Master Italian Language & Literature with a Native Speaker

The Italian language is complex but interesting to learn. So is Portuguese (Brazilian and European). I am available for teaching to any prospective student, at any level, considering I am a native speaker of both idioms, as well as of the English language. My classes are offered in English and I have quite a flexible schedule. If you are interested to learn new, Latin-derived languages, feel free to contact me! Due to the Covid-19 pandemics, I will primarily deliver lessons online. However, if you have a preference for physical contact, then we can find a compromise (with no variation on the lesson cost shown below). In the first lesson, you can evaluate whether the classes are for you or not. I am quite flexible in terms of time/cost!

Also the lessons can be essentially developed as conversations on specific subjects.

My name is Hélène. I have lived abroad for over 25 years: in Great Britain where I taught French, then in Belgium where I worked on different projects with the European institutions, and finally in Italy for 20 years where I was called upon to teach Frech to Foreigners at the University of Turin and where, at the same time, I directed cultural projects related to Francophone litterature in an institution called il Circolo dei Lettori. My way of teaching French as a Foreign Language is different from formalised learning processes, it is pragmatic, progressive and tailor-made. Why? First of all, because, before I became a teacher, I have been confronted to learning other languages: English, then Spanish, Portuguese and finally Italian. I have thus understood what is useful, mainly what is not, to enter another language, what gives the satisfaction of rapid progress in speaking, understanding, and writing... without approaches that are too often useless, time-consuming and costly for an unsatisfactory results. The FLE tuition, that is to say French as a Foreign Language, is intended for those who wish to learn French in order to be able to live in French-speaking environnement. However, it can also be of grat help for children/teens who do not have the grammatical fundamentals in order to be better at school. A language, any language, cannot be acquired just "at random", it has a structure, the grammar through which we must progress to learn. DON'T PANIC, GRAMMAR CAN BE APPROACHED WITH FUN & PLEASURE! My approach is TAILOR-MADE TO EACH, SO THAT FRENCH CAN BE USEFUL TO YOU IN REAL LIFE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. I'm a current university student in the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting and I offer classes to to people who want to improve and/or practise a foreign language (Italian, Spanish, French). My teaching method focuses on the needs of the students. Each class is personalised depending on the aspects of the language that the student wants to improve (speaking, grammar, writing, comprehension). The classes are interactive and involve games and online ressources.

The course is aimed at a wide range of students with a general interest in Italian. No prior knowledge of Italian is required as the course is for complete beginners. Objectives of the course: To acquire basic language skills and to achieve the equivalent of A1 level. A communicative approach is used. All four skills (speaking, reading, listening and writing) are practiced, with the main emphasis on speaking. The student engage in interactive language activities according to a syllabus based on systematic grammatical progression. The student will also be offered guidance in self-study and set optional homework tasks.

What better way to learn Italian with a native speaker? I am a sunny and quiet girl, available to offer lessons for homework and/or tutoring help. The lesson will be focussed on the needs of the student, moving from grammar to pure spoken communication.

Being a pianist and a piano teacher, I already have lots of experience with teaching and pedagogical approach with the whole range of ages. I offer Italian lessons for adults using a specific, very lively and effective method that will allow you to understand, read books in Italian, watch films in the original version and above all to express yourself quickly, with a solid grammatical foundation, in everyday life, but also to have rich conversations with your interlocutors. If you wish to brush up your Italian, resume a past series of lessons, or simply start from scratch learning Italian, this is the right lesson for you! I like to personalize each class/course according to the needs and goals of my students. My classes are focused on improving the student's communication skills. At beginner and lower intermediate levels, I prefer using a text book/ student book in the first part of the class. I usually use "Nuovissimo Progetto Italiano" and "Arrivederci" by Edilingua, or "Nuovo Espresso" and "Dieci" by Alma Publishing. For the second part of the lesson, I create engaging contents using original videos, press articles, extracts from blogs and social media, literary texts. If the students do not feel comfortable using Italian from scratch, I can switch to English, German, or Dutch. The course fee includes the correction of home assignments.
