Hungarian classes from native linguist, online or in-person (+ bring your friend for a group discount!)
No one: ...
Hungarians: “Megszentségteleníthetetlenségeskedéseitekért!“
The fact that you have found my profile means that you are intrigued by Hungarian to some extent. Me as a polyglot linguist who is also a native speaker of this exciting and colourful language do share your appreciation.
- Are you planning a vacation (or even moving) to Hungary and want to make the most of your experience with being able to communicate with the locals? (Believe me, they will really appreciate it!)
- Are you interested because you want to speak to your significant other in their native language, or perhaps to rediscover your own roots?
- Do you want to pick up a new challenge and learn a language that is known for its complexity?
Whatever your goal, we can reach it together! Despite its notorious reputation among linguists and non-linguists alike, I can help you tame the beast and show you that the language of the Magyars in fact is way more systematic than many (including Hungarians) would like to admit ;)
I have tutored over a dozen students in Hungarian from various nationality backgrounds across 3 continents, and I have a proven set of methods/materials for each of the 6 CEFR levels. The class contents are tailored to your own goals, pace and interests. As a rule of thumb, I like to start out with easy-paced classes for which no previous linguistic knowledge is necessary, so you can feel at ease while warming up to Hungarian. But since I am familiar with various layers of the language, we can also take a step forward and dive into more spicy topics such as etymology, descriptive grammar, poetry (you name it) if you are interested. In any case, you can expect a structured approach with clear and doable aims, lots of first-hand cultural notes and personalised home assignments that help your progress.
If you want to start to learn Hungarian, don’t hesitate to send me a mail!
- Materials are provided by me, so you only have to bring a pen or pencil, a notebook and your enthusiasm to learn languages
- I will create a Google Classroom for our classes where you can keep track of all the materials, whiteboards and homeworks. Here you will always receive customised feedback from me on your homework before the next class
- After every class I will give you a customized deck of flashcards on Quizlet so you can really keep up with new vocabulary
- Learning with me pretty much includes a 24hrs Hungarian hotline for all kinds of urgent questions about homework, grammar, culture and more :)

About Me
I am a friendly, enthusiastic and encouraging teacher with 12 years of professional teaching experience.Among the six languages I speak, Japanese is definitely my speciality since it has a very special place in my life. Starting from Bachelors up to completing the coursework of a Ph.D. in Japanese Studies, I have devoted more than ten years to learn more about the language and culture of this incredible people.
During this time, not only did I get a chance to work and study in Japan for two years, but also to open my eyes to other exciting cultures as well. This is how I found myself on a year-long working holiday in Korea where I was volunteering on farms and teaching English, and spending a month in a Taiwanese Buddhist monastery. These episodes have given me a lot of experiences and insights that I love to share and discuss with others.
Being a polyglot and great linguistic nerd myself, I design my classes in such a fashion that I would also enjoy taking part in them. I use lots of real-life materials (books, comics, movies, music, podcasts, you name it) that I maximally tailor to my student's needs and first-hand stories that put these into perspective. Last but not least, I like to keep the classes informal and informative at the same time.

여러분, 안녕하세요?
🇰🇷 Do you want to start learning Korean and do you want to do it in an organised way?
🇰🇷 Did you already get started on learning but you got stuck on a particular grammar?
🇰🇷 Are you aiming for a TOPIK 1-2 language exam and do you want to get prepared in as short and effective a time as possible?
As a language tutor with over 10 years of didactic experience and a TOPIK level 5 language exam, I can help you overcome difficulties and reach your goals.
My love with Korean language and culture started more than 10 years ago thanks to my amazing Korean friends that I made during my first exchange year in Japan. Fast forward to 2016, I spent one semester in Korea as part of my individual research trip abroad to collect materials for my PhD which later turned into another semester of working holiday as an English tutor. This year spent in Korea was my real motivation to start learning the language properly so that I could connect more to the locals. For me this was a very enjoyable, but at the same time challenging process. As a result, I can completely relate to your struggles. That is why I like to make sure that I teach my students in the way that I wish I had learned when I was a beginner.
I can assist you with grammar, pronunciation, and script (but also hanja and cultural notes) up to a TOPIK level 1-2. If you have a favourite vlogger, comedian or song that you want to translate in class, that is also no problem: my classes are very open to your input to turn your progress into a really personal experience.
Whatever your Japanese level, whatever your goals with learning, I am more than sure we can achieve them together. For example:
- Are you planning to take a JLPT exam anywhere from N5 to N1?
- Need a quick brush-up for your job or scholarship interview?
- Upcoming trip to Japan and you wish you could break the ice with locals in their language?
- Do you want to understand what they are talking about in your favourite TV show without subtitles?
- Or... you simply fell in love with this incredible language and want to start learning it from scratch in a structured way?
If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then you can already rest assured that you have found the right tutor. On top of these, the range of possible directions our classes can take is even broader: I can introduce you to Japanese interpretation prepping, help you to improve your understanding of written Japanese in a more structured way, or if you’re a kanji nerd like I am, talk about their history for hours.
I have been a Japanologist *slash* lover-of-all-things-Japanese for more than 17 years and as such I am familiar with a very broad range of linguistic and cultural layers of the country (oh, and if there is one that I am not, then I will most definitely be more than happy to look into it). So do not hesitate to leave a message if you want to learn with me.

Private Hungarian classes online: Learn Hungarian from a professional teacher in Vienna AND onlineI'm a highly qualified and experienced translator and a language teacher for German and Hungarian. Being a translator and a polyglot enables me to see languages and their grammar systems from a different angle than 'regular' Hungarian native speakers or school teachers. Based on my training and my regional expertise I also provide a variety of language support services for Hungarian.
I have taught both in the private sector and in numerous language schools, adults and children of different ages. I can offer Hungarian to university level, for this is my mother-tongue, and German to B2 level since I live and work in Vienna for more than 20 years now. I came here to study and made my Bachelor's degree in Transcultural Communication and a Master's degree in Translation and Terminology Sciences at the University of Vienna then settled down with a good man and built a family. I also have a teaching qualification for 'German as a Foreign Language' from the University of Kassel in Germany, and didactic training on the renowned BERLITZ-method for 'Native Speaker Language Teachers'. Usually, I work from home, where I have a vast library of teaching resources such as worksheets, textbooks, picture dictionaries, flashcards, games, and lots of books for Beginners with Hungarian-German-English parallel texts, short stories for Easy Readers, etc.
I use varying tutoring approaches, because no two learners are alike, whereby enjoyment is an important factor in my lessons. I very much like to use the latest technology and teaching techniques, but also have an extensive compilation of Hungarian language games, cards, songs, short stories, videos. I'm fond of and really appreciate internet sources to teach Hungarian, for I do believe that learning Hungarian can be fun. I aim to foster a friendly but professional relationship with each of my students, to build their confidence and self-belief when they learn a new language. Hungarian can be an extremely challenging language and as an experienced Hungarian tutor, I really can help you learn it.
A private tutor is there to provide the support you need to enhance your language skills, especially your communication skills, and give you confidence in speaking the language. One-to-one language lessons can make grammar become far more accessible, together we'll sharpen your passive skills in reading and listening, and practice your active skills in speaking and writing.

Hungarian as a Second Language with a professional certified teacherIn the past 13 years – since graduation – I have been working with a wide range of people form all over the world. I have been teaching not only the university students, help desk agents, but also middle and senior level managers join to our one-to-one and group sessions.
Besides the general language courses the most popular sessions are specialized on HR and software development terminology.
As one of the most employed Hungarian as a Foreign Language Teacher I got the opportunity to participate in 3 projects funded by the European Union and the Hungarian Ministry of Interior, in these 3 projects I gave over 2500 lessons for more than 300 language learners.
When COVID-19 came, I started teaching only over Skype, and I just love it. I use Google doc. Google doc is like an interactive platform, what we can edit together at the same time, in the beginning of the class it is like a pure text book, in the end it is like your notebook with vocabulary and the solved tasks etc. I use Skype to speak on.
Shall we schedule a demo class for this week?
