About Me

I encourage, I'm professional but friendly (we will laugh a lot!), I'm always there for you, I lead, I get results.
Two decades of experience teaching wide-ranging English language skills for single, bi-lingual and multi-lingual professionals and students. Lessons focus on conversational and/or business English; I will be able to help decide what is required.
English is the language of business, of connecting with the world, of being understood and listened to. Business English needs the stricter rules of clarity and purpose. Who, What, Why and How - all must be considered.
Whilst I produce skilled planning, preparation, delivery and assessment, it is important to know how I teach. It’s not by consciously learning, but acquiring through interaction and exposure, whilst noticing form (grammar, I’m afraid!). Even the etiquette of the English language is important.

Experience / Qualifications

Whilst British born and raised, I spent 10 years living in South Africa in the early 2000s, where, even today, the government encourages corporations to sponsor school-leavers through university, and then into their company’s employment.
I noticed that despite this scheme, many young adults were graduating with poor written and spoken skills in English.
I therefore founded 190 Communications (known as One-Ninety) where I composed, and wrote, six modules for Business Writing - both basic and advanced - for young adults. The company commenced its training through interactive emails, and latterly on-line, via Zoom.
Clients included The Johannesburg Stock Exchange, young professionals-in-training (Anglo America), banks, mining, senior managers, junior staff, Minister of Transport, plus many private companies.
