    About Me

Hello! I enjoy teaching English because I believe that languages help us unlock the key to truly understanding people who live in places where those languages are spoken.

I am an experienced teacher who also continues learning other languages myself. I have taught English in several countries on three different continents. So I appreciate that my students will have different needs based on where they live and what they want to accomplish with their language skills.

I adapt my teaching style to what my students want/need: do you need a serious coach to prepare for the TOEFL or another exam? Or do you need a fun, laidback lesson to help you learn more about how to use American idioms in everyday conversation? I have experience in both of these situations and everything in-between.

    Education

Here is a list of my degrees and English-teaching qualifications:

Bachelor of English: University of San Diego

TEFL certification: US Peace Corps (three month training program)

MBA: University of Arizona - Global Campus

    Experience / Qualifications

20+ years of experience teaching ESL to teenagers and adult learners
    - Courses taught in the past at middle schools, high schools, universities, and private businesses

In these sessions, we will discuss topics of your choice: sports, culture, business, etc. and we will work on both your pronunciation skills and enhancing your vocabulary. What do you want to learn about today? It can be a new topic each lesson or we can use several lessons to take a deep dive into one topic.
Being able to utilize advanced English in the workplace is a critical skill in today's world. Whether you want to increase your vocabulary and general comfort level with English, or intensively work to improve your language skills related to your specific content area at work? This is the class for you! Possible topics include: - expanding everyday workplace vocabulary - finance and accounting - human resources - operations - sales - management lingo - contracts and negotiations - technical support / IT - other (we can discuss your specific needs)
Let's adventure together for an hour to help you bring American history to life! Through engaging, interactive stories and detailed vocabulary, you will learn more about each period of history in a fun, unique method. Possible topics include: - America at the beginning: how the country was founded - America in the 1800s - America in the early 1900s - Elections / voting / women's sufferage - American Civil War - American involvement in World War I or World War II - Vietnam War - The Cold War - 1950s and 1960s - 1970s - 1980s - 1990s - 2000s - American elections: 2016 and 2020 - American music and politics - American international relations
One of the most effective ways to prepare for these exams is with a native speaker. We can focus on one area of the test for a single lesson... or even just last-minute conversation preparation. Another option is to work together to prepare for each area of the exam over 5 or 10 lessons together. The TOEFL iBT ® test has 4 sections: Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing. During the test, you'll perform tasks that combine these 4 English communication skills, such as: read, listen and then speak in response to a question. listen and then speak in response to a question.

Private lessons and tutoring in French, English and Spanish
Graduated from a Masters in Comparative Literature and a Masters in Literary Translation, currently a freelance translator, I offer tutoring courses for middle and high school students in French. I have already accompanied several students in their preparation for the French bac, who have all made good progress. With my students, I insist on acquiring a good methodology to succeed, and put special emphasis on self-confidence: text commentary and essay should not be scary exercises! I work with the texts studied in class and adapt to the student's needs: revisions, feedback on corrected homework, preparation for oral exams, writing exercises ... I can also help students learn English and Spanish, which are my working languages. We look forward to meeting you, and taking part of the literary journey together, Lucia

Learn in a simple and effective way: Spanish - English - Portuguese
Good morning! Buenas dias! Delighted Michaël, teacher on the internet for more than two years. I would like to offer you a fun interaction that complements the school method. I have traveled around the globe which has led me to speak several languages and also to work in particular in England, Australia, Spain or the Dominican Republic. Basically I start the lessons by talking with my students about a bit of everything (in order to enrich the vocabulary). Depending on the level I adapt with files that are sent during the course. I also use the Callan method which works on repetition in order to properly assimilate useful words and phrases. All in a positive way :) Tell me your availability if you're interested for a first lesson. At worst it will have made you practice, at best you improve! Regards

    Juliette
Private English lessons for students (primary, middle, high school) and adults
Hello all, I am Juliette, Doctor in Health Biology and holder of a Master's degree in international cooperation. Passionate about foreign languages and intercultural exchanges, I am currently learning 2 languages on my own: Spanish and Russian. After having taken LV1 English in middle school and high school (18/20 at the baccalaureate), I continued to learn English through my travels (Europe, India) and my research activity (I carried out a thesis in biology). I have written scientific articles in English, and I speak English on a daily basis with my foreign partner. I am level B2/C1: I got 925/990 on the TOEIC in 2021. Regarding the courses I offer: I favor dialogue, listening and the acquisition of vocabulary in learning a language, but I can also work specifically on grammatical or conjugation points, particularly if there are expectations linked to school programs. Whatever the level of English targeted and the possible blocking points, I think that regular listening and practice are a sure way to anchor the good automatisms of the language in the long term. By hearing certain turns of phrase, certain grammatical notions will end up coming spontaneously to your mind when you write and express yourself. What I propose, depending on your level and your requirements (exams, school programs, etc.): - define together a program likely to meet your expectations - deliver the course in English (even if it means speaking slowly, translating certain words, and mixing English with French at the beginning). Abroad, language courses are taught in the language, and this quickly contributes to progress :) - vary the learning supports and angles: written, oral and listening. Ideally, a session will consist of all 3. - Establish with you, depending on your availability, a program to do independently during the week (watch a short video on Monday, listen to a podcast on Wednesday, read the news on Saturday, etc.) - gradually support you, if you wish, towards autonomy in learning this language. Looking forward to meeting you and speaking English with you! Juliette

Language courses at school level and for adults.
I am an Italian teacher (my mother tongue) in a French high school and college. I hold a Master's degree with honors in Foreign Languages and Literatures (English and French) from the University of Bologna. I also studied Spanish for five years and lived and worked in Spain for two years, reaching C2 level. I have experience as a teacher of English for high school students, Spanish for migrants and as an educator in educational projects for children and adolescents with special needs. During these experiences, I was able to develop and perfect a method that was both didactic and educational, based on active listening to needs, trust and cooperation. When it comes to the material, I try to make it as dynamic and creative as possible, aware of the fact that language learning is more effective if placed in situational contexts and based on personal inclinations.
