I am eager to help young people feel confident when writing sociology essays. I will place an emphasis on deconstructing the questions students are given by encouraging them to reword the question to offer a different perspective on it. In addition, the main aim of a sociology essay is to convince the reader more and more of the argument you have claimed in the introduction. I want to help students do this by helping them follow the PEAL structure, i.e. Point, Evidence, Analysis, Link back to question. I have found this a very effective and coherent way of structuring an essay. I have studied Sociology for 7 years now, at AS/A Level, Undergraduate Level and now at MSc level at LSE. I was awarded First-Class Honours in my undergraduate as well as 'Best Dissertation of the year' by the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. I have a PhD in Theology from Cambridge. I studied English Literature as an undergraduate. I have 20+ years of experience teaching English and 10+ years of experience coaching students how to write an engaging personal statement and editing dissertations, papers, and research proposals. I can work with you on how to write an academic essay in a humanities or social sciences subject. Do note that while my background is in Theology and English, I can guide you on how to write an academic paper in other subjects since research papers follow the same format. However, I will not be able to advise you on subject-specific details.
