Flute and music lessons

I have played the flute for more than 20 years, and have been teaching since 2011. I offer flute lessons to children aged 8 and up, and adults at all levels from beginners to post Grade 8. I also teach recorder to younger beginners- I find this is a good stepping stone for younger children as it's more comfortable for smaller beginners to hold, and easier to make a sound on. Learn to pass exams or just for fun- many of my students achieve highly in ABRSM and Trinity grades, but some prefer not to take exams and this is fine too. Whatever your level, one to one tuition means that I can tailor my teaching to your needs as a flute player, and my teaching takes into account the reasons you learn an instrument, encompassing a wide variety of repertoire. I also teach music theory- lots of students come to me to help prepare for Grade 5 theory, and I also teach higher theory grades.

I teach instrumental lessons (face to face from my Music Studio and online) on flute, piano, singing, saxophone and clarinet, as well as music theory. I also offer general musical skills sessions for young children who are not quite old enough to learn one specific instrument yet. I have experience as a Music Teacher and Lecturer for schools and colleges, so I also offer help with GCSE and A-Level Music. I attend regular Safeguarding training and I have an advanced DBS on the update service. I also have experience working with children who have special educational needs and EHCP’s. Learning music and an instrument as well as being part of a group or ensemble, is about much more than becoming a performer. The skills and techniques learnt, are incredibly versatile for use in other subjects as well as being valuable life skills. I also have experience of running school and college choirs, orchestras and ensembles. I choose repertoire of various genres for students to explore different sounds and styles, with some being quicker to learn but effective, to build a more instant satisfaction and confidence within the group, while other pieces are more technical, allowing students to challenge themselves. As well as being a solo Flautist, Singer, and Saxophonist, I am part of an acoustic Classical Flute and Guitar duo, a Folk duo, a Jazz ensemble and a Folk Rock band, performing at weddings, private functions, festivals and events.

I am a classically trained experienced musician with a strong background in orchestral performance, I started studying music since I was 5 years old. I have been teaching flute, piano, music theory and folk woodwinds for more than 10 years. I build lessons based on my students' needs and adapt the program to each individual, so together we can achieve great results and enjoy creating beautiful music. I offer flute lessons (modern and traverso), recorder, piano and music theory. All ages and all levels are welcome! I am able to teach in English, German, French and Bulgarian (my native language). My journey : I have a master's degree in modern flute performance (HfM Dresden, Germany) and I am currently pursuing a second master's degree in historical instrument practice (HEM Geneva). I also studied piano and organ from a young age. A graduate of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (Jazz), I have been involved in music my whole life, and a freelance professional since 2022. I have worked regularly in big bands and function bands across the UK and internationally. I am offering instrumental lessons in: saxophone (any), clarinet, flute, and bass clarinet online or in SW London (subject to availability). I offer lessons in Jazz (theory & improvisation), classical, and contemporary music.

In this lessons we will work on Irish tunes alongside how to play your whistle, good posture and breathing technique. Irish music gives a great joy, it's rhythmical and flowing :) we will work on both playing by ear, but also reading the sheet music so you can always easily learn and play new tunes.

Hello Recorder Lovers, I'm Jeongguk. I'm from South Korea and living in The Hague from 2011. I've been playing recorder for 20 years and I've got a bachelor's and master's degree on the recorder. (Royal Conservatory in the Hague 2011-2015, Korean National University of Arts 2005-2011). I'm giving both offline/online recorder classes to all ages and levels of recorder lovers. (Both soprano recorder and alto recorder available, even tenor/bass recorder too) For beginners, we'll follow the curriculum to learn basic skills and basic music theory such as posture, tonguing, breathing, fingering, tone quality, and reading music. For intermediate students, we focus on learning advanced skills to make music more professionally and be able to play more complicated music (playing sharps&flats, high notes, double tonguing, ornamentation..etc) Advanced students, we focus on learning various music from different periods and composers to widen their repertoire and technique. Transverse flute classes. All ages from 7 to 107 years old! Recorder and/or piano lessons for beginners too! I was principal flute at the National Philharmonic Orchestra in Warsaw (Poland) and have over 45 years of experience teaching repertoire, solo, chamber music and orchestra. Over the years I have developed my method of Conscious Flute Playing, which has allowed me and my students to make the flute sing as we wish. Thanks to this we can learn music theory passively as we go through the pieces. There is also the opportunity to participate in student concerts in Brussels twice a year (December and June). Intensive courses before entering the conservatory, competitions etc. also available on request!
