Contrary to popular belief, learning Latin is not like learning the phone book by heart. I offer you Latin lessons that are unlike any other. There are two types of courses. Here is an analogy to illustrate their respective approaches: If you take the train back and forth every day and don't have time to wait long at the platform, imagine that you only have two options: 1) Learn the schedules by heart. 2) Note that the train arrives every ten minutes and that a train arrives for example at 7:00 a.m. In school pedagogy, in study notebooks and in ordinary courses, it is the first approach which is adopted - in the courses that I offer you, it is the second because it is more economical and faster. What are the sessions about? The sessions are to work on conversation in English through topics and content of psychology, well-being and self-help. According to several studies, including a study conducted by Cambridge in 2022, the best method to learn a language is through immersion (exposure and engagement). This means that when we learn topics or activities that interest us, the brain activates the prefrontal cortex, the striatum, the limbic system, and the hippocampus, which are the areas of long-term memory, motivation, concentration, reward, and emotional experience. These functions together create greater receptivity to new information. It is about talking about topics that motivate and interest us to enhance learning. They are also life tools that benefit us all. The more a person opens up to talking and reflecting on their personal experiences, whether positive or negative, the more they will be able to handle life's difficulties and improve their well-being. What level should I be at? Once you understand the written and/or spoken language, and can say the basics, we can start working. It doesn't matter if your level is basic, since that's exactly what the sessions are for. When you try to create a statement with interesting content, the areas of the brain that promote learning are activated. Here, through the chat, pronunciation and grammar are corrected, new vocabulary is added, and the correct way to say what is desired is taught. If the session is in a group of two or more people, it can be once or twice a week.
