I am a former University Senior Lecturer with over 20 years experience in teaching and research. I am passionate about inspiring individuals to aim high. I have assisted multiple students and early career academics to achieve their goals. I worked in research and teaching roles within UK universities between 2004 and 2024 and am an Advance HE Fellow. I am the author of four books, have published in a range of international peer reviewed journals and have chapters in various other books. I also have significant experience in peer-reviewing for academic journals. After a twenty-year career in UK higher education I decided to embark on my own freelance private tutoring and academic consultancy business. I have delivered bespoke 1:1 tutorials to university students since April 2023. I was a part-time private tutor from April 2023 to June 2024 and have been full-time since then working with various tutoring agencies. I teach social sciences, qualitative research methods, study skills and academic writing and I have assisted students from undergraduate to PhD level. I have also assisted early career researchers or those new to teaching at the higher education level. I believe that students learn best when they construct knowledge for themselves rather than passively take it in, so all my classes are student-centred and aim to help you become an independent learner by improving your skills so that you can perform better in your assessments. In my lessons, I care very much about my students so that they emerge from the lesson benefited. I am trained to solve any question in the lesson and can solve any question related to the lesson through many exercises and using the appropriate means to present the lesson with interactive exercises, PowerPoint, interactive role, continuous reviews of the lessons, constant follow-up with the guardian, interest in writing, reading, listening, dictation, developing the skill of expression and everything related to the Arabic language, and also teaching grammar rules. Psychology has become a sought-after course in recent years, with more and more children enrolling in it either in school or when they go to university. However, a lot of educational institutions focus solely on the theoretical perspective of psychology and techniques associated with therapy, with little to no impact on the real world being assessed. As a practitioner and student in the field, I like to combine theory and practicality when I teach. This helps the child learn the concept better with an actual experience. I feel that experience-based learning makes concept learning and understanding more effective. I will also help in framing answers for the exam-based questions and will also look into taking practice papers for the same. When it comes to languages, both English and Hindi have been a pivotal part of my schooling, and Hindi is spoken at home to this day. I believe that grammar and spoken English are at the top of the pedestal, and it is with confidence building that we can work on understanding English as a language. Hindi too as a language will require greater grammatical understanding so as to make the writing part of it more effective. As your tutor, I will tap onto all aspects, writing, speaking, and grammar, so that we leave no stone unturned and help you progress in this avenue better.
