In this class I will teach you three main sectors of industry to help you grow your own freelance creative business, or for you to hone your creative skills in a new job in which you work your way up in the industry. Creative Writing is a subject for those with imagination, talent, and a passion for literature, film and television, poetry and so much more. Whichever pathway you wish to discover, this class will give you the necessary skills to develop and explore different styles of writing, giving you an example of industry-standard work. This class can help you work towards English Language/Literature/Creative Writing qualifications at many different levels, hopefully inspiring you to pursue a university education or career in this field. I teach Premiere Pro and Avid Media Composer, from beginner to advanced. In the beginner and intermediate courses, all the important basics are covered and practiced using practical applications. The advanced courses go into finer details, such as advanced editing techniques or shed light on specific processes such as proxy workflows or colour management. Structure: The technical lessons are structured in 1 hour modules, using practical examples and allow time for experimentation and questions. I also teach editing theory and creative strategies across many different genres and styles. These are less structured and are tailored to specific needs. Open Sessions are also possible, where you may bring along a personal project in Premiere or Avid and I will offer you technical assistance, feedback or tips.

What themes would you like to make a film about? In this workshop you will get to know yourself and your fascination: the basis of the journey of discovery into who you are as a filmmaker. Find your story The first steps in getting to know yourself as a storyteller have been taken. Maybe you would like to interview others or make a film about animals. Yet you have to delve a layer deeper into the world of your story before you can take a step outside. Everyone has their own story, but how do you go from your fascinations to finding your story? Find your form You start to see the world more and more through the eyes of a filmmaker. You have an idea of your fascinations and story, but how do you make the transition to film? In this lesson I will take you through the rich possibilities to tell your story. There are no boundaries in shapes. Do you dare to take a deep-sea dive or experience the magic of film? Find your movie Every great filmmaker started experimenting at some point. In this workshop we will make our own 1-minute documentary film. You learn to sit in the director's seat, dive into the world of editing and leave with your own film. From fascination to film: you did it!

Independent Filmmaking is now in its golden age. With prosumer cameras and iPhones, everyone can become a filmmaker. However, you need to know technical skills, storytelling techniques, visual aesthetics and editing tools in order to craft and finalize your film. This course focuses on independent filmmaking and arthouse film. It will equip you with the necessary tools to develop a unique voice amidst the clamor of mainstream cinematic conventions. Participants are guided through the intricacies of storytelling, cinematography, and post-production techniques, fostering a profound understanding of the craft. I am an independent filmmaker and experienced university teacher and I will not only share with you my professional knowledge, but I will also guide you in the development of your own film!

In this class, you will learn about the intersections of film and philosophy in a way that will prepare you to excel in college-level film studies courses. If a college course mentions being an introduction to “film studies” or “film theory”, then you can imagine this as the Apprentus equivalent of that!
