Acting Technique, Theory, and Audition Preparation

Alongside my tutoring work, I am a professional playwright and theatre critic. I have studied theatre at the University of York, Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and I am a member of the Soho Theatre Writers Group. My plays have been staged at the Edinburgh Fringe, York Theatre Royal and across Fringe venues in London. With my A/AS-Level Drama support classes, we will examine and explore the history behind a number of the key texts on the specifications for OCR, Pearson and EDUQAS: Hedda Gabler by Henrik Ibsen Accidental Death of an Anarchist by Dario Fo Saved by Edward Bond In classes, we will look at the context in which these plays were written, the cultural impact they had and how to use this in essays to demonstrate your broader knowledge of the set texts. Aside from the plays themselves, it is important to understand the wider world of theatre. We will look at the plays of Samuel Beckett, Jean Genet and Theatre of the Absurd for Dario Fo. The history of Theatre censorship and the Royal Court Theatre is crucial to understanding Edward Bond's Saved. This class will give you the opportunity to explore these complex texts with a practising playwright, and the expanded knowledge of these plays will give you that edge when it comes to the exam.

In this class you'll learn how to move on stage, how to be confident with public speaking, how to use your creativity and your imagination to embody different characters. I've designed this class for it to mix necessary theatre technical skills such as placement, voices etc with fun acting activities ranging from improvisation to classical plays.It can also be adapted to any ages or level of acting. If the class is on webcam, I will design the class for it to be inventive and create a theme for each of the meetings.

Drama and theatre studies give opportunities to build speaking skills, confidence and creativity. Whether you have chosen drama to study at GCSE, A- Levels or enjoy is as an extra-curricular activity, this series of theatre study classes will ground you in a strong foundation of knowledge from the history of theatre, influential practitioners and the bringing to life of modern-day texts. I will take you through different elements of theatre studies and practices, shaping lessons in your own interests and the subjects you would like to delve into. This could be to shape formal studies, support with theatre study essays or in preparation for starting a drama course.

These sessions allow the development of skills and knowledge of the trade, with the game facing the camera, familiarization with the audiovisual environment and the camera tool, in the art of acting. Your inventiveness and your uniqueness being at the center of your training, it is a question of dwelling on the objective criteria, such as the voice, the use of the body, the relationship with the partner, the capacity to occupy the space. But it is also the singularity and the commitment that are decisive. The objective of this training is to be able to: - Analyze and dissect a text - Create, develop and embody a character - Understand the artistic and technical writings of a film or a play - Create, cultivate and develop one's artistic identity and singularity (...) Through simulations and role-playing, the association between theory and practice makes it possible to achieve its objectives. Acting is all about embodying a different character. Be that someone you relate to or a person that is the antithesis of yourself, being able to portray that difference is the core of performance. I believe in the importance of utilising the strengths a person has as an individual to further propel their acting. In this class, I will give you persoanlised feedback and performance direction for whatever role you're playing. This can be used for self tape help, monologue/duologue work, theory, etc. The end result will be a stronger performance that you are able to feel more fluid in performing.

✓ Improvisation is the art of composing within the framework of a role play, without being overplayed so as not to lose credibility, by taking pleasure and appearing convinced (because communication does not consist, for example, of having confidence, but of appearing confident). Hi I'm Chloe :) Im an acting coach and working actor. I know how scary and daunting the acting world can be, especially when you're trying to train, work and audition at the same time. Im here to make the training side (of becoming an actor) become a fun and flexible experience. What I can help train you in: - I will help you learn how to apply yourself to scripts, using various different methods which I too have learnt while at Drama school. - ill teach you how to develop a character and find a way to connect, through improvisation. - I use many acting practioners methods, ranging from Uta Hagen to Meisner. Therefore we can work together to find out what works best for you. -Ill help you learn how to match your voice and physicality towards your performance. - we will also build confidence within performing Shakespeare and ill teach you new techniques on how to make a Shakespeare speech modern and exiting! - throughout this process we will work towards finding you 3 contrasting monologues that work for you (2 contemporary and one Shakespeare) which will be perfect for either, acting auditions or drama school auditions. Dear students! My name is Anna, I am an opera singer and a teacher of vocal and acting skills. I will help you unlock your beautiful and unique voice, prepare for music school, university, competitions, or simply enjoy singing as a hobby and express yourself through it. My goal depends on your goals, and my teaching strategy is based on the tasks we set together. I warmly invite all who have a passion for singing! A bit about myself: I graduated from the Kazan Music College (Opera Singer and Teacher, 2015-2019), and with honors from the Kazan Conservatory (2019-2023) in the Musical Theatre department. I was a soloist at the opera studio of the conservatory and am actively engaged in concert performances. My teaching experience includes working with children and teenagers at the Academy of Laughter, as well as private lessons for adults. I also coach dramatic theater actors in singing. Singing is an important skill whether you are a beginner looking to build confidence or a seasoned performer looking to retain good technique. We will build on techniques from the 'life after estill' principles. This will be subtly incorporated into the lesson and you will find that breathing and projection will improve quite quickly. This class is suitable for anyone of any age.

As an actor myself, I know how scary auditions/Drama School auditions can be. With each school requesting different skills and monologues, it can be hard knowing what works well for you as a performer and what will show you off the most. As someone who has been through the process and was successfully offered places at East 15, Lamda and Alra, I would now love to be able to support others through the journey During my lessons, we will focus on your Classical and Contemporary monologues while exploring the best audition techniques for in person or self tapes.
