I am a student of TEW at the KULeuven and would like to offer my services to high school students who could use some help outside of school hours. Together with my students, I look for the right study approach to fully understand the courses and I try to present the subject matter in a different way so that my students gain more insight into the subject matter. I myself graduated from the Sint-Albertuscollege in Haasrode with a degree in science mathematics (6 hours) and I was raised perfectly bilingual (Dutch-French). I have several years of experience with tutoring, both to children in the 2nd year of high school and to children who are at the end of their high school and will soon be making the transition to further studies. I offer classes for two different groups: - Young adults preparing for TOEFL/GRE with sessions focused on solving exercises from the exams and improving the student's skills - Academic English for researchers and people in academia, where we focus on methods, format and language of academic texts. Sessions could be focused on review the student paper A little about myself. I am a Researcher. I lived in the USA twice, as an exchange Student at MIT for a year and as a J1 worker at McDonald's for 3 months. I scored 103 and 112 in the two times I did the TOEFL exam, and I scored at the 99% math percentile in my GRE score. I was born in Brazil, and I am a native Portuguese speaker. I have lived in Leuven for five years, so we can communicate in basic Dutch.

I studied Latin Sciences at Sint-Jan Berchmanscollege in Brussels and I am currently in my 3rd bachelor's degree in Applied Economics (TEW) at the KUL. Mathematics, science subjects, and languages can be challenging. I therefore offer my services to provide additional support to students in secondary school. Together with my students, I go over the course material, do sufficient exercises and discuss with them what the right study approach is. - As for the lessons. The lessons are about mathematics of secondary education. More specifically, I will assist in the theoretical processing of mathematics as its application (the exercises). In addition, I will provide additional study material (aids, schedules, ...) if necessary. - Way of handling. I would like to have an overview in advance of the study material, the tests or tasks in which certain problems are visible, .... This way I can prepare the lessons in advance and focus on the problem. In addition, I can estimate / determine his / her level in this way. I try, in a simple way and for the student in an understandable way, to explain the course in a different way so that this is clear to the student. Afterwards I like to enjoy the results. - Why am I doing this? Math is a passion of mine and for me there is nothing more fun than sharing my passion. Unfortunately, my love for mathematics is not part of my studies and that is why I like to do this as a hobby and as an extra income. Of course I work professionally. - Experiences? I love nothing more than tutoring my fellow students about the subject matter. This is appreciated by them. Of course I also have experience in tutoring mathematics of both primary and secondary education. - Who am I? My name is Arina and I study law. I am 25 years old, live and live in a room in Leuven. In secondary school itself, I had a traumatic experience in the first and second year of secondary school for the subject of mathematics. I found it very interesting but I just couldn't understand it. During these years I had the same teacher who did not teach me the material in a way that was, for me, correct. After receiving tutoring (mandatory by my parents), my interest in mathematics increased so much that I started studying economics mathematics in the following years. My love for mathematics just doesn't seem to go away...

As a final year civil engineering student, I want to help others fully understand mathematics. I want to see where exactly the difficulties lie and overcome them by doing exercises together. I would like to help both children in secondary school and young people in higher education. (Minimum lesson blocks of 2 hours)

Experienced teacher (international schools and private tutoring) with a Master's degree in Mathematics, currently doing a Master's in Statistics at KU Leuven.
