Italian classes for beginner and intermediate (mother tongue)

Are you interested in Italian culture and language? Are you planning to move to Italy for work, study, travel, volunteering? Then this class is for you! Italy is one of the countries where not that many citizens speak English language, therefore it might be difficult to adapt to locals without knowing Italian, at least basic one. By this class I would like to immerse you into Basic Italian language and culture. For the teaching purposes, throughout the classes, I will use different highly-rated textbooks of local editions, effective YouTube channels, interesting articles. I will cover main functional areas of Italian grammar and vocabulary within different areas and will make sure that you start speaking since the first class already, since Practice Makes Perfect and Italian is not so difficult as it may seem at first! The goals, needs, expectations will be discussed in person with every student and adapted towards personality. The program and classes content will also depend on the prior mentioned factors. I am a 22-year-old Italian girl, now a full-time sociology student in Leuven. I attended all my years of education in Italy and have an excellent knowledge of language and grammar. I have experience in teaching foreign children and young people. Normally I try to focus on conversation and text comprehension, so as to learn grammar in a lighter and more fun way, but if necessary I can prepare targeted programmes related to grammar or specific knowledge.

I am the eldest daughter of a large family, I have 4 younger siblings. I grew up babysitting them, since my parents were often away at work and couldn't look after them. I am also Italian, from Tuscany, and I could take care of your kid while helping them with keeping up the Italian language! Kids are often "lazy" and risk forgetting the language they use less, so having a person around that only speaks that language to them is beneficial. I am Valentina and I am a PhD student in Neuroscience. I was born in Italy, in Trento. I love the teaching of my mother tongue! I have experience in the italian private lessons since three years. With that said, let me introduce myself. I have a degree in Linguistic and Cultural Mediation and a degree in International Relations. I have been teaching Italian as a foreign language for many years and in the past I have also been giving some Spanish classes, so I want to assure you that despite your level of Italian, we will not have communication problems and we will be able to use Spanish as an auxiliary language :) Throughout my professional career I have had experiences in different types of classes, both in Italy and Spain. Thanks to them I have learned how important it is to use varied teaching methods since each person learns in their own way. My terrifying French teacher in middle school made us repeat the same fake dialogue from a really bad book ad nauseam, over and over and over again. I hold a degree in Lingue e Letterature Straniere (Foreign Languages and Literatures) from Università Roma Tre (equivalent to an American MA) and a Master’s of Fine Arts in Interdisciplinary Arts and Media from Columbia College Chicago. I wrote a thesis about translating a long epic poem by W. H. Auden and I tried to ride a horse across America.
