I offer classes for two different groups: - Young adults preparing for TOEFL/GRE with sessions focused on solving exercises from the exams and improving the student's skills - Academic English for researchers and people in academia, where we focus on methods, format and language of academic texts. I lived in the USA twice, as an exchange Student at MIT for a year and as a J1 worker at McDonald's for 3 months. I scored 103 and 112 in the two times I did the TOEFL exam, and I scored at the 99% math percentile in my GRE score. I was born in Brazil, and I am a native Portuguese speaker. I have lived in Leuven for five years, so we can communicate in basic Dutch.

As a native English speaking American, I aim to improve my student's breadth of grammar and understanding of the English language through one-on-one and group lessons, advancing from any level. Having spent all my life in the United States, I also can train my students on the American vernacular and culture. I have a minor in English Literature from a college in Chicago.

Apart from general English language learning, this type of classes will focus more on English business vocabulary, business writing, business conversation and listening comprehension. This class would be suitable for people who plan (or already do) to study business/economics, want to enhance business skills for the business trips/clients, want to communicate and network effectively with international people in English. For this class I will use several books as materials (popular editions) dedicated to Business English growth. I will involve much conversational practice and discussion activities of specific topics. The material (books, texts, exercises) will be shared with a student. All the classes and preparation for them will be adapted to each student individually. Economics classes for University level students will be based on student's needs (some suggestions: Econometrics, Microeconomics, Quantitative Economics). For school students, it can involve advanced learning or basic Economic knowledge (aligned to student's needs). English classes will involve writing and speaking practice (based on the student's existing knowledge). I tend to explain things pretty well. I always try to assign homework for further practice. Times can be discussed with me and I do accommodate students based on mutual availability.

I have a master's and bachelor's degree in history and am currently completing a second master's in social and cultural anthropology.
