History and politics have always been a passion of mine and I am very much willing to teach anyone who desires any tutoring. At times it can be very difficult and overwhelming if you need to make an exam or write an essay - I can be there to help in case you need guidance! The goal here would be to make you understand history better, organize patterns in your head and possibly make you love the subject! This should definitely help in either expanding your worldview, or enhancing your history grades. I am willing to teach history (or politics/maatschappijleer) in Dutch or English. I have little preference in regard to eras or themes in history, but if you must know I especially enjoy political and military macro-history. The grand patterns throughout history fascinate me, with of course, attention to large events. No era or area is particularly strange to me, again, being able to process history is the goal here! The grand goal is to get a basic, intermediate or advanced understanding in one of the subjects. I could, possibly, rehearse with you and ask you how fluent you are in the topics at hand. I am fully willing to adapt to the student his or her academic needs. In case you wish me to help you in structuring or writing a history essay, then this, too is no problem!

I am a native English speaker from Ireland currently studying MSc Psychology at Leiden University. I received a grade A1 in my Leaving Certificate English studies and my BA degree includes a specialisation in English. I also have experience teaching English as a second language in both Spain and Zambia. I am available for lessons after lectures and during weekends. The lessons can be held in a location that suits you or via Skype, etc. if necessary. These lessons can be for students of any level who want extra support in English acquisition or improvement. Hello everyone! I'm an Italian expat studying international relations at Leiden University. Back in Italy I used to give English classes to students in need, and I also worked for a while for an association where I taught Italian to African immigrants. Here in Leiden I would like to teach Italian to people who don't only want to improve their grammar skills, but also their conversation skills.

As an Italian native speaker, I would like to focus not only on grammar and formal aspects of the language, but also on the cultural context in which phrases are used and coversation. My classes will be flexible and adaptable to the student's needs.

I specialize in tutoring English and German grammar as well as pronunciation. I keep track of a level of progress and make sure my students get their personalized material as well as the support they need from me. I assign homework if needed / requested and will make sure my students get a fitting program to increase their language level as efficiently as possible. I offer you a German course that is not like the others. There are two types of courses. Here is an analogy to illustrate their respective approaches: If you travel back and forth by train every day and don't have time to wait long at the platform, imagine that you only have two options: 1) Memorise the timetable. 2) Realise that the train comes every ten minutes and that a train arrives for example at 7:00 a.m. In school pedagogy, in textbooks and in normal lessons, the first approach is used - in the course I am offering you, it is the second approach because it is more economical and faster. My offer is aimed at both pupils and adults who want to learn the German language without time-consuming detours through the madness of fruitless school methods. Learning is easy, but unlearning things that have become bad habits is extremely difficult. This makes it all the more important to learn the right reflexes as early as possible. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced learner, with my customised lessons you will greatly accelerate the learning process while having a positive attitude. I offer German lessons for individuals or groups (2 to 5 people). The methods are based on cognitive science and historical linguistics in particular. My modular programme can be adapted on a case-by-case basis. The converging point of these modules is your independence in spontaneous conversations in real life. What will not be covered in the course: learning lists of verbs; learning lists of nouns with articles; learning words with their translations; flashcards; doing school exercises; following the syllabus of a booklet; imposing the English grammar on the German language. What is particularly important to me: to motivate my student and to give him a learning rhythm; to encourage his creativity; to befriend him with the language; the letters and their sounds; to strengthen the memory by training the phonological loop; to teach blueprints instead of memorising sentences; to explain how the language works in order to make my student independent as quickly as possible; to eliminate common preconceptions, such as that 'der' would mean masculine and 'die' feminine, that the accusative would be a direct complement and the dative an indirect complement, that verbs would be irregular, that declension would be random and therefore would have to be learnt with each verb...; to put practice at the centre and only deal with grammar where necessary. A first lesson will give you a sound idea of my pedagogy.
