I am a classically trained experienced musician with a strong background in orchestral performance, I started studying music since I was 5 years old. I have been teaching flute, piano, music theory and folk woodwinds for more than 10 years. I build lessons based on my students' needs and adapt the program to each individual, so together we can achieve great results and enjoy creating beautiful music. I specialise in teaching music composition, production, and piano. I have a BA from the University of Oxford in Music, and I am a professional TV and Film composer. I am also able to teach music theory, history, and ear training. My goal is to create lessons that help my students to get an interactive, un-intimidating, and fun filled musical education. I believe that this comes from learning not just one area of music, but by giving students the tools to be confident in any musical setting they choose. I teach all ages and levels of musical ability. As I have a wide background in music, I am able to give a rounded music educate in the area you choose to specialise in! I have experience performing classical, funk, jazz, and pop and would love to share a whole range of different styles with you.

As an educator, Fiachra is focused always on finding the way of making music which suits each of his students best, with a confident and comfortable way of working with the instrument (which then transfers into the rest of life). He has been praised for his patient and compassionate approach, and an openness and freedom which he shares in his performance. When teaching young children, he makes use of imaginative imagery and games to help explain concepts in a way that children can understand. My teaching method is scrupulously adapted to each student I have, regardless of the subject to work on (musical language, cello, music history, analysis, conducting, etc.) I always apply the Belgian teaching model, where I trained with my master's degrees in Conducting (Antwerp) and Historical Cello (Brussels). According to this model, the main thing is a living and practical teaching, taking understanding and not memory as the main learning engine.

From my childhood I have been studying music and art: sang in choir and solo, played piano, painted, studied music history and literature, solfeggio. Later in college I have also learned choir conducting, had ensemble and choir singing lessons, cultural studies. During last year in university I had pedagogy practice at university and at private art school (where I worked as a music tutor before the war - piano, voice). I truly enjoyed working with students. They all were different age (8 - 40+ years old) and level. But all were very interesting and work was pleasant. My education was very various: my core subjects were conducting, choir, voice, piano. So it allowed me to work with children, teens and adults with quite wide range of interests and needs: some students needed/wanted to learn particular composition(s), sometimes pop songs arrangements, some were interested in “introduction” to the music, some wanted to renew skills they gained in their childhood and continue their journey to the music world. In addition I prepared presentations (which contained information about cultural and historical background and musical and character/art analysis). So after graduation from choir conducting faculty (which allowed me to deepen my knowledge in many important compatible branches) I concentrated on studying classical singing and piano, expanded my cultural studies and analysis knowledge, practiced solfeggio and harmony.
