I hold a Master of Music degree in piano performance (with merit) at Goldsmiths, University of London and have taught piano and music theory to students in Hong Kong, Beijing, Zhejiang and London for over fifteen years. I welcome students from beginner to advanced level and am equally happy to help my students pass music exams or just learn to play piano for their own enjoyment. When teaching kids and beginners, I strictly follow the traditional conservatory method of training the postures, fingers and muscles properly from the very beginning of the learning process. And for kids, I highly recommend that parent(s) can help monitor their practice at home. For adult students, the most important thing is to analyse your performance, to find the problems that prevent you from playing better, face them and fix them. I provide creative solutions according to your conditions. I helped a senior student (60+ years old) to pass ABRSM Grade 8 with merit, a 20-year-old student to play keyboard and sing in his band after 10 lessons, and a high school student to get music scholarship in UK. I believe in the power of encouragement and motivation. And always remember, practice makes perfect. I teach in Mid-Levels West, Hong Kong. I teach through English, Mandarin and Cantonese.

Having had over 13 years of experience playing the piano, and Grade 8 ABRSM certificate of qualification, I teach beginner level piano. Something that I also focus on is musicianship which many other piano tutors do not focus on. Apart from technique and form, lessons will cover musicality and sensitivity to music as an art form.

I am an advanced musician, having achieved my Licentiate diploma in piano (with AMEB in Australia), my Associate diploma in flute (with AMEB in Australia), and my ACTL in music theory (with Trinity College). I taught piano throughout high school, University and on the side of my full-time career as a lawyer. I can teach beginners of all ages and students who are working towards Grade 6 or 7 standard of Trinity College or the equivalent. I am also happy to teach students who would like to learn for fun or for performances, rather than for exams. I make lessons fun, engaging, and motivational. I am extremely passionate about teaching. I was also a recipient of Talent Development Scholarship awarded by the Hong Kong Government Scholarship Scheme. Started learning the piano at the age of 4, I won numerous prizes in different competitions including Asia Piano Open Competition, TOYAMA Asian Youth Music Competition, Inter-School International Performance Challenge and Hong Kong Schools Music Festivals. In 2018, I was also one of the finalists in the Liszt Memorial Prizes Hong Kong International Piano Open Competition. I have been actively engaged in music teaching since 2013. Starting my career in Opus 1 Arts Music Studio in Hong Kong, I continued inspiring the next generation when I moved to London in 2015, where I was appointed as the piano teacher in the Lanterns School of the Performing Arts London and London Music Centre.

From my childhood I have been studying music and art: sang in choir and solo, played piano, painted, studied music history and literature, solfeggio. Later in college I have also learned choir conducting, had ensemble and choir singing lessons, cultural studies. During last year in university I had pedagogy practice at university and at private art school (where I worked as a music tutor before the war - piano, voice). I truly enjoyed working with students. They all were different age (8 - 40+ years old) and level. But all were very interesting and work was pleasant. My education was very various: my core subjects were conducting, choir, voice, piano. So it allowed me to work with children, teens and adults with quite wide range of interests and needs: some students needed/wanted to learn particular composition(s), sometimes pop songs arrangements, some were interested in “introduction” to the music, some wanted to renew skills they gained in their childhood and continue their journey to the music world. In addition I prepared presentations (which contained information about cultural and historical background and musical and character/art analysis). So after graduation from choir conducting faculty (which allowed me to deepen my knowledge in many important compatible branches) I concentrated on studying classical singing and piano, expanded my cultural studies and analysis knowledge, practiced solfeggio and harmony.

At my studio my students will not only learn how to play the piano, but they will receive a complete musical education in order to achieve their musical dreams. I will give all my best so everybody will get the tools for developing their own voice, helping them to master the instrument and teaching them all the theoretical knowledge they’ll need to make their particular personality shine. Openness, joy, dedication, creativity and passion for music are some of the things that you will find in the international environment of my studio. I care about who my students are and what they have to say to the world, and I will help them to develop it from the very first lesson. In my class you will not only be able to receive piano lessons but also will learn to understand how the music works as a language. If the interest and the profile of the student goes in the direction of the purely classical music performance, the lessons will be focused on a deep and conscious piano technique development, practicing techniques, musical interpretation, history of music, history of the piano, applied harmony on the keyboard, analysis, and score reading by a method that I have developed for over 15 years of experience. And if the students wish, I can help them to prepare for the ABRSM exams and competitions as well. All this is aiming to achieve in a very practical and exciting experience the best results in the fastest way possible. But if the profile and the interests of the students goes on another way, I will give them all the tools they need to understand the language of music in depth, so they can find their own voice on the instrument. In that case the lessons will include contents of piano technique, score reading, applied harmony on the keyboard, composition, improvisation, musical arrangement, music production, recording techniques, jazz and pop music analysis and performance. Both programs can be combined depending on the focus and the profile of the student, or in case the student would like to go deeper in one of the previously mentioned subjects there is the opportunity to take an independent course of specialization on the desired topic. At the end of the semester every student will perform at the winter and summer concerts held every year and will have the possibility of making a recording session with the material worked during the term. With this, the student will not only be able to see his progress and work, but also will give him a direct experience of performing and working on a live or studio recording session, which is a fundamental part of the developing process of every musician. Geneva - Lausanne - Morges Courses in English, French, Italian (native languages) - German (European level B2) As a graduate of the Geneva Conservatory of Music, I offer with great enthusiasm, excellent methodology, and a strong desire to share my passion, piano and music theory lessons for all levels.
