Math & Physics Tutor (Biology, Chemistry & Physics available for pre-university levels [GCSE, O/A-level, etc])

My name is Dylan and I am a Masters student at Leiden University, studying Astronomy and Cosmology. I received my baccalaureate degree (B.Sc in Physics with Astronomy) from Dublin City University, Ireland, in 2015. I graduated with the highest marks in the class, due not only to my study and hard work, but also my exam technique.

Therefore, in our lessons we will not only discuss the topics of the subject but also the exams associated with the subject. Being comfortable with the layout of the exam and the types of questions asked/language used is of huge benefit to our confidence, and therefore performance, in the exam.
To that extent, I offer to travel to a location of the students choosing for the lessons; the idea being that the student should feel more comfortable/confident in familiar surroundings and that a relaxed mind is conducive to learning. Webcam lessons are also available.

Math classes I took at university level include: Linear Algebra, Calculus of Several Variables, Differential Equations, Statistics.
Physics classes taken at university level include: Quantum Physics, Relativity, Electrodynamics, Mechanics, Cosmology, Spectroscopy
Computer Science classes include: C/C++ Programming, Image Processing & Analysis

Extra information

If possible, old homework assignments/in-class exams should be gathered together for the first tutoring session. This allows me to establish your strengths and weaknesses rather quickly.

About Me

My name is Dylan and I am a 27 year old Irishman. In my last 8 years of academia, I have excelled in exams and finished top of my class. This includes 4 years in secondary school and then each of the four years of my undergraduate degree. I would attribute my academic performance to not only my hard work and study but also my exam technique, which I refined over the years.

I am a diligent tutor who would take as much time and care with our lessons as I did my own exams. I am always listening to students, not only for the things they say but also for what is being said "being the lines" or even not said at all.

I believe that teachers/tutors should be facilitators of learning and knowledge and not dispensers of it. A topic is remembered with much more clarity when one has explored it using their own methods and mind, rather than being told about the topic by someone more knowledgeable. Teachers should point students in the right direction along the path of learning, but not LEAD the student along with it.

I have provided the option for travel to the student's location - I feel learning is more feasible when a student is relaxed and comfortable in familiar surroundings - though I am aware that currently, this may not be many people's preferred method, so I am also offering online lessons.

Education

2011->2015 - Dublin City University - B.Sc in Physics with Astronomy - 1.1 degree.
Currently - Leiden University - M.Sc in Astronomy & Cosmology - [in progress].

Experience / Qualifications

3+ years of tutoring experience, teaching Math, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology to ages 13-22. German lessons for ages 13-15.

Tutoring Mathematics B, Mathematics A, Physics, Dutch, biology, economics, etc., for VMBO, HAVO and VWO
I tutor various subjects at secondary level, including mathematics, physics, biology, Dutch, English and economics. For years I have been teaching tutor in different subjects to students of all ages. I am currently studying linguistics at the University of Amsterdam. At the VWO I followed a nature & technology profile, which means that I also know everything about mathematics and physics as those subjects are taught at a secondary level.

Kafia
Mathematics and English Tutoring (Including test prep)
I have been teaching Mathematics and English at all levels for more than 3 years. I have taught students with learning disabilities as well as students who are excelling in their studies making me well equipped to teach all kinds of students. I have experience as a math substitute at a secondary school (children aged 13-16) and therefore prefer to make a lot of mock exams and exercises myself. I like to keep parents as involved as possible and provide progress meetings outside of lessons. I have taught English to adults at a linguistics company for a year and have some experience teaching adults too. Even if you are an absolute beginner or seem to be struggling, I can find a way to help you learn better.

Bradley
Mathematics and English Tutoring for Highschool students
I specialize in tutoring Mathematics and English for school and the SAT, GED exams. My goal is to help students understand the basics and work around problem areas they have in Mathematics. By teaching the meaning behind formula's and reasons for methods up until the correct solution is given. I find it is important to grasp an understanding and improve the learners understanding of the material. Working with numbers is very easy for me, as I have a distinction in mathematics on my High-School certificate and have passed university level mathematics. This will help me to explain why each process has to be done in solving any question/problem. In my English lessons, I teach proper grammar balanced with vocabulary. Teaching the importance of the different sounds in the English language to help with reading and writing skills. Once these are obtained then the next step is teaching how to hold conversation in English. I am also qualified to teach formal-business type English for anyone who needs to use English in a professional environment.

High school Mathematics and English tutoring lessons
Highschool is a difficult time with a lot of stress and pressure from teachers, parents and peers to do well. I remember the worry about getting good grades to be able to pursue what I wanted to. My goal is to take some of this stress off by helping you learn and understand the course information. I try to incorporate activity into my lessons to keep it fresh and exciting. I aim to help improve your understanding of the syllabus so that exam days aren't as stressful. I look forward to tutoring you!

Math, English, Sciences for young adults and children
So far I've spent a large amount of time teaching my younger sister the basics of mathematics as well as science and languages. I want to tutor people because it gives me an opportunity to help them in a way that a teacher could not. For me, it is very enjoyable to work with students of all ages that would like to learn. When I was younger, my grandfather used to help me, and I would like to pass that feeling on. During my studies I've spent some time helping younger students in my programmer(IB) with their studies. All though I was born and raised in Bulgaria, I have spent 7 years living in Austria in an English speaking environment, due to that, I speak fluent British English, as well as mother-tongue level Bulgarian and a very good German. I am able to help individuals up until 9-10th grade.

Private online mathematics lessons - Qualified and experienced teacher
I am a qualified and experienced mathematics tutor. Graduated from the Free University of Brussels in 2011, I started my career by teaching remedial courses in different schools in Brussels. I then specialized in individual academic support by following educational training at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. I have been giving private mathematics lessons daily for over ten years. The students who follow my private lessons benefit from personalized support. The first session is devoted to an in-depth assessment of the student's mathematical knowledge. The objective is to detect its weak points and understand their origin in order to adapt my courses to its needs. I develop a tailor-made remediation program for each of my students aimed at filling each of their gaps. Over the course of the sessions, the student builds a solid foundation for learning and regains self-confidence. At the same time, I help him acquire a work methodology that allows him to gradually become autonomous in his studies. I have a perfect knowledge of the mathematics program of the College and the High School (from the Sixth to the Terminale). During my formative years, I studied and developed many techniques that make it easier to learn math. The strength of my pedagogical approach lies in my ability to explain in a simple way everything that the student finds complicated. I am passionate about this job because it gives me the opportunity to guide dropout students on the path to success. It is a real pleasure to see them evolve and come to terms with the fantastic world of mathematics. I provide my private lessons in Limoges (at the student's home) or remotely (online via the internet). My distance learning courses take place on an interactive online whiteboard. This board is specially designed to promote student/teacher interaction on the internet. Thanks to this educational tool, my online courses are as effective as home courses. The student only needs an internet connection and a computer, tablet, or smartphone to take advantage of it.
