Flute, Traverso (Baroque transverse flute) lessons

Hi, my name is Galit and I am a professional recorder player. I have been performing in various ensembles and venues around Europe and Israel, playing baroque, medieval, renaissance and contemporary music which is the vast repertoire of the recorder. I graduated from the Amsterdam Conservatory and the Royal Conservatory of the Hague. I have been teaching in various platforms for over 20 years and I adapt the lessons to your needs, wishes and level. During our lessons I will teach you the skill set of mastering the recorder. Obtaining good technique, working on good posture and healthy breathing along side learning about the instrument and it's history. Learning to play the recorder is an opportunity to expend your horizons, be creative and learn the art of listening. I am offering lessons in playing the traverse modern flute as well as historical flutes and music theory at any level, from the beginner to the professional. This course, based on more than 10 years of experience in teaching, offers private lessons where everyone can find their unique contact with their instrument, deepen their relationship with music and develop a unique way of expressing themselves through music making. I teach from international method books and adjust my methods to the individual needs of each student. Taking two courses of the Alexander technique also helped me to develop an understanding of the essential connection between the body and our minds. This awareness can be very helpful not only for our musical performances, but also for our everyday lives. This class is for students of any age who wish to learn the transverse flute. Learning an instrument takes time and commitment, but it's hugely rewarding - and it doesn't have to be boring! I have experience teaching students of all age and levels and I specialise in tailoring my teaching to meet the individual needs of each student. Beginner flute lessons are suitable for students learning from scratch or those already playing up to about ABRSM Grade 2 level. In beginner flute lessons, you will learn the fundamentals of making a sound and play your first notes, as well as the basics of reading music. As lessons progress, you will learn your first short pieces and maybe even prepare for graded exams. Intermediate lessons are suitable for students already playing at about ABRSM Grade 3 to Grade 5 levels. In these lessons, you will build on what you already know to expand your abilities on the flute. You will learn more about different musical styles and techniques and develop more confidence to express yourself through music. Advanced lessons are for students already playing at about ABRSM Grade 6 and beyond. Depending on each student, lessons could involve growing more skills to take the advanced grade or diploma exams exams through to learning the skills to put together a recital programme or prepare for a music college audition. There is wide scope in these lessons to focus on your areas of interest, while still keeping an eye on the solid foundations of good flute technique and musicianship.

As a teacher, I love seeing students feel joy at playing the flute and making their first sounds when they understand how a composer wrote their music and when I share some fun history facts to help inspire interpretation. Ultimately this class is for those who want to improve their skills on flutes of various kinds - modern flute (dwarsfluit), baroque flute (traverso), and recorder (blokfluit). It includes a range of beginner musicians until advanced, younger children and senior adults. You can choose which music you want to play or I can help you select some pieces. Hello!! I'm Marina, I'm 23 years old and I come from the Basque Country (North of Spain). I finished my bachelor's degree in San Sebastián (Spain) and I came to The Hague 3 years ago to continue my Flute studies. I am currently in my second year of my Master's degree at Codarts (Conservatory of Arts in Rotterdam). Turkish reed flute is an essential instrument of Turkish Classcial Music. It has a deep and dense culture dating from 13. century around. If you want to learn about how to perform it you first need a teacher educated by masters on this field. As of many teachers you can find online but you make sure that not every tutor meets with traditional style. Solfege and method are inseperable parts of the lessons. So for beginners and intermediate students must follow a compotent tutor to learn about the way of classic form.

I have played the flute for more than 20 years, and have been teaching since 2011. I offer flute lessons to children aged 8 and up, and adults at all levels from beginners to post Grade 8. I also teach recorder to younger beginners- I find this is a good stepping stone for younger children as it's more comfortable for smaller beginners to hold, and easier to make a sound on. Learn to pass exams or just for fun- many of my students achieve highly in ABRSM and Trinity grades, but some prefer not to take exams and this is fine too. Whatever your level, one to one tuition means that I can tailor my teaching to your needs as a flute player, and my teaching takes into account the reasons you learn an instrument, encompassing a wide variety of repertoire. I also teach music theory- lots of students come to me to help prepare for Grade 5 theory, and I also teach higher theory grades.
