I will develop enjoyable lessons tailored specifically to you. Making the first steps In the beginning, the piano can be very overwhelming! I take a lot of time on the basics as there is always a lot to learn and take in. I use a variety of beginner method books and resources to help you build your confidence in understanding the piano itself, developing your coordination skills, learning to understand the musical notes on the page, developing your musical ear, and understanding basic music theory. Jazz - Pop - Classical After having covered the basics of piano playing, theory, and reading skills, many of my students move on to playing classical, jazz, blues, or pop pieces, practicing scales and finger exercises as well as further strengthening their sight-reading skills. Improvising Or if you perhaps wish to get away from notes written down on the page I can help you develop your own creativity by understanding theory and applying it to chordal playing, composing and improvising, and playing by ear. Practical Lessons From the age of 12, I had classical piano lessons and have always studied the piano as a secondary instrument to the trumpet. I continue to play piano as a hobby and during my studies at the conservatory, I developed an interest in jazz piano playing. You can therefore feel confident that no matter what your interest may be (perhaps you haven't figured this one out yet), I can give you high-quality fun, and enjoyable training in your own interests. No Piano yet? There are a lot of options and things to consider when working out how to get hold of or buy a keyboard/piano which can be confusing and sometimes stressful! I am happy to give advice to ensure the choice you make is right for you. Online Lessons For the last couple of years, I have been teaching lots of students online. Many have found this way not only to be very suitable but actually their preferred style of learning. Sometimes nothing can be better and simpler than learning in the comfort of your own home. As a teacher, I often find the best solution is a mix of both online and live lessons. We can experiment and find the best solution for you. Lesson Location I live in The Hague and teach from my apartment on a Yamaha Acoustic Upright and Electric piano. I'm pretty flexible, so if you're pushed for time or need to work out a better solution, I am happy to travel to another location close by if it's convenient! I am a Spanish pianist and composer (MMus graduate from Codarts Rotterdam in both directions) with many years of teaching experience, and also very active in performing in various contexts. I give private piano lessons for all levels and styles (classical, jazz, Latin, new age, pop...), as well as music theory, composition and improvisation lessons. My lessons are distinguished by their dynamics, practical approach and adaptation to the needs and interests of the student. The lessons (live or online) take place in my studio next to the Maastunnel, where I have a premium stage piano and a top-quality webcam setup. I speak Dutch at an intermediate level, which is improving every day.

In that case the lessons will include contents of piano technique, score reading, applied harmony on the keyboard, composition, improvisation, musical arrangement, music production, recording techniques, jazz and pop music analysis and performance. Both programs can be combined depending on the focus and the profile of the student, or in case the student would like to go deeper in one of the previously mentioned subjects there is the opportunity to take an independent course of specialization on the desired topic. At the end of the semester every student will perform at the winter and summer concerts held every year and will have the possibility of making a recording session with the material worked during the term. With this, the student will not only be able to see his progress and work, but also will give him a direct experience of performing and working on a live or studio recording session, which is a fundamental part of the developing process of every musician. Piano lessons in Jazz, Classical, or Modern styles; depending on the student's interest, we can mix a bit of everything or delve deep into one style. Main focus applied to overcome the problem of piano: mastering two-handed rhythm. To achieve this, I teach left-hand grooves and foundations while working on improvisation, harmony, melodies, accompaniments, and everything there is to play with the right hand. I introduce piano techniques such as walking bass, tenths, stride, drop 2, and more. From my experience, rhythm, "Groove", and the connection with the music in the moment it is being played are the most challenging aspects to learn and integrate. Thus, I give significant emphasis to these topics in my sessions, especially those aimed at playing polyrhythmic instruments such as the piano. I cover compositional tools, approaching Jazz Standards, accompaniment techniques, improvisation methods for any instrument, Blues tools, methods to strengthen the relationship with the instrument, analysis, and listening skills.
