World History and Social Studies Lessons from International Student-Teacher

The subjects of World History and Social Studies are often left aside as they are seen as less useful that the other subjects, but I believe children can learn a lot from observing and learning about what happened in the past and what happens today. I want to share my knowledge about these subjects with them while also helping them managing the knowledge they already have and need to learn. In schools, history is often taught through learning dates and events but history should be taught in the form of a story, which is easier to remember, and the useful information will stick longer.
I am willing to help my students with the homework they have as well and teach them some skills in how to organize and manage the work they receive.

I have teaching experience in international schools in Qatar, Italy and the US with students in middle school and high school, having taught the American curriculum and the International Baccalaureates curriculum.

Thank you for your time :)

About Me

Hi!
I'm a 21-year-old student studying to become an international teacher. I am Belgian but I grew up in France, where I learned to speak French on a native level and learned Dutch through international schooling and my family. I have C1 level in English (Cambridge) as it is mandatory for international teachers. The subjects I teach are History and Social Studies, for which I have a wide range of knowledge and I am keen to learn even more.

I want to show students and people there is a lot to learn from observing the past and even today's events, and that History doesn't have to be the boring subject taught in schools for the sole purpose of learning dates.

I am pleased to get to know you and your children :)
Schools always give a lot of homework for students to do at home. This might lead to some children struggling with managing the homework, doing the homework or organizing their workload. Furthermore, parents do not always have the time to work on this. Admittedly, this is not an easy task and takes a lot of discipline from the student and not being able to do it often takes a toll on the students' mental well-being and their grades at school. I want to help the students foster that discipline and learn ways to manage and organize all the work that is expected of them. The courses would start with regular help with their homework and just spending time with them working on things, and the faster they improve the more I can teach them skills and tricks they can use to organize their workload and do it all on their own! I have teaching experience in international schools in Qatar, Italy and the US with students in middle school and high school, having taught the American curriculum and the International Baccalaureates curriculum. Having taught so many different students, from different cultures and families, I have had my share of experience in terms of homework. Thank you for your time :)

What is sociology? An introductory course on key concepts
The course, ' What is sociology?’, is taken from a textbook. The textbook comprehensively explores sociology, aimed at both students and educators. It explores various aspects of sociology and provides a rich understanding of social structures and institutions and their impact on human behavior and the organization of society. The course follows the same lines as my textbook (which can be found on Amazon in French and English). The course is organized into 14 modules as follows: 1. Introduction to Sociology 2 . The Origins and Development of Sociology 3 . The History of Sociology 4 . Theoretical Perspectives in Sociology 5. Research Methods in Sociology 6 . Socialization and Identity 7. Social Structures and Institutions 8 . Social Stratification and Inequality 9 . Culture and Society 10 . Sociology of Religion 11 . Deviance and Crime 12 . Social Change and Social Movements 13 . The Future of Sociology 14 . Conclusion: A Reflective Journey Through Sociology Every time, the teacher starts by presenting the topic. The students are required to take notes. Then, we start the questions and answers to ensure the students understand what was said. Then, we summarize, and that ends the session. NB: There will also be a distribution of references for further reading on the subject. Overall, the course provides a theoretical foundation for understanding key sociological concepts and their application to analyze and resolve societal complexities. It will be supplemented by practical exercises in content analysis, text intelligence, etc.

38-year-old PhD student offers classes and tutoring at secondary and university levels for any area of Humanities
I have taken a few years off to complete my PhD in History and I would not like to stop teaching and learning in the meantime. I guess it is a cliché, but it is amazing what I have learned by teaching. If anything can distinguish me, it is that my personal experience has shown me that, when it comes to learning, complexities such as age are simply that. Experience in national and international schools. Possibility of classes in English (C1).
