Hoi hoi! My name is Célia, I am a 21 year old student from France (Paris) and next year I'll be doing a master's degree in international commercial law in Groningen. I've already done a lot of homework help, and I know a lot of Dutch are learning French. That's why I can help you, whether it is to overcome difficulties or simply to perfect your language skills. Thanks to my previous experiences, I know how important it is for each person to have tailor-made lessons and a specific method. I am currently learning Dutch, but my lessons will be given in English and in French (mostly). I obtain a C1 level with the IELTS. I already teach French to my Dutch boyfriend, so I understand the differences between the two languages that can cause difficulties The first lesson will be used to assess your level and let me know what your objectives are, as well as see if the different methods I use are right for you! I live in a large student house in the south of Groningen, so you can come and study at my place. I learned French as a student in Canada and pursued a job teaching French as a second language in the public school system where I worked as a teacher for thirteen years. The course will be carefully structured to meet your individual needs and goals. I will assess your current level of French proficiency, identify areas of improvement, and tailor the curriculum accordingly. Whether you aspire to master conversational skills, improve your grammar, or become familiar with French culture, I will create a customized learning plan just for you. By the end of the beginner French course, you can expect to have a solid foundation in French pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, and basic conversational skills. You will feel confident navigating everyday situations in French-speaking environments and possess a strong basis for further language development. The base language of instruction will be English. I can understand spoken Dutch if this is the language in which you prefer to speak.

I am a French native speaker living in Groningen and love sharing my French culture with different nationalities. The purpose of this class is to immerse yourself in a French environment without living in the country itself. Therefore, I am adapting and offering different approaches to learn the language via (French) movies, reading the classics and most famous French writers/intellectuals (i.e. Sartre, Victor Hugo, Camus) and practicing standard grammar exercises to obtain good basic of the language. Of course, those different activities will adapt to your language level.

Contrary to popular belief, learning Latin is not like learning the phone book by heart. I offer you Latin lessons that are unlike any other. There are two types of courses. Here is an analogy to illustrate their respective approaches: If you take the train back and forth every day and don't have time to wait long at the platform, imagine that you only have two options: 1) Learn the schedules by heart. 2) Note that the train arrives every ten minutes and that a train arrives for example at 7:00 a.m. In school pedagogy, in study notebooks and in ordinary courses, it is the first approach which is adopted - in the courses that I offer you, it is the second because it is more economical and faster. My offer is aimed at both students and adults who want to learn the Latin language or deepen their knowledge without time-consuming detours through the insanities of school methods which do not produce results. Learning is easy but unlearning what has become a bad habit is extremely difficult. All the more important it is to learn the right reflexes as early as possible. With my tailor-made teaching you will accelerate your learning in a positive state of mind. I offer individual or group Latin lessons (2 to 5 people). The methods are based on cognitive sciences and in particular historical linguistics. What will not be the subject of the course: learn lists of verbs; learn lists of nouns with their gender; learn words with their translations; memory card game; doing school exercises; follow the program in a notebook; impose French grammar on the Latin language. What matters to me in particular: motivate my student and give him a learning rhythm; encourage creativity; make friends with language; letters and their sounds strengthen your memory by working on the phonological loop; teach construction plans instead of having people learn sentences by heart; explain how the language works to make my student independent as quickly as possible; breaking preconceived ideas such as the gammatical gender would have a link with the biological gender, the accusative would be a direct complement and the dative an indirect complement, the verbs would be irregular, the declension would be random and therefore to be learned with each verb... ; place practice at the center and articulate grammar around practice.
