    About Me

Translated by Google. Click to view original.
A naturalist painter, author of numerous books devoted to the great natural regions of the planet, also an engraver and sculptor. Born in 1958 in France, living in Geneva, Eric is a gold medalist for French animal artists, laureate of the Fondation de la Vocation, member of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators of the United States.

His painted works employ a variety of techniques, including watercolor, ink, drawing, and oil and acrylic paint. Some large works also use gold leaf. We can apply Cézanne's phrase to this artist: "It is not so much nature that interests me as the forces of nature." By contemplating and studying the animals, the flora and the landscape, Eric shares a look that is both poetic and realistic on the wild world - a look that challenges man and his often irresponsible behavior towards the environment, because it has become insensitive. Some magnificent portraits of inhabitants of the regions visited or details of the historical heritage extend and complete the evocation of the world of the mountains or the desert. Certain oriental inspirations as well as the influence of lyrical abstraction give to his representations of wild life, with its forms and rhythms, a singular intensity and depth. The line, like the colors, magnifies the fruit of patient observation, both by bringing it back to the essential and by projecting it elsewhere.

His works have been the subject of several exhibitions, notably at the Natural History Museums of Geneva and Paris. They are present in public and private collections.

MENTORING IN ARTS : Discover how to say something through your artistic work.
I am a visual artist born in Barcelona, settled in Belgium since 2017. As an artist I have accumulated experience for the last 25 years. I am graduated with an Academic Bachelor in Fine Arts in the University of Barcelona and graduated as a Master in Visual Arts at Sint Lucas School of Arts in Antwerpen. I am specialised in painting, drawing, experimental films, installations, language, sound and curating. In other words, I am a multidisciplinary artist. I understand the artistic practice as a way to understand ourselves and the situations which surrounds us. In my classes I don't teach how to do Art, but as how to say something through your artistic work. With me you can work independently, with a coach who will challenge you with some assignments and giving feedback to your personal concerns. In addition, you will learn how to work with several mediums, preparing your own material: paintings, canvases, and so on. You will not only receive individual coaching but as encourage you to look other artists or take into account other references connected with your concerns. Finding, discussing and retaking solutions together are the core of my classes.

Trained painter and Creator-Researcher in the arts gives courses in Painting with historical influences
This course offers an in-depth exploration of painting, with an emphasis on the techniques, styles, and artistic movements that have marked the history of art. Intended for students of all levels, the course combines practical painting sessions with theoretical studies of iconic works, allowing participants to draw inspiration from old and contemporary masters to develop their own style. Currently studying art history at the École du Louvre, and having studied in prestigious schools such as the École Olivier de Serres, I am a creator-researcher in contemporary art, specializing in culinary design, which enriches my pedagogical approach with a unique interdisciplinary perspective. Students will learn to master various painting techniques, such as oil, acrylic, and watercolor, while discovering how these mediums have evolved over the centuries, techniques that I learned in particular during my professional experience in the museographic workshops (decoration painting) of the Louvre Museum. In parallel, discussions and analyses of works of art will allow us to situate the practice of painting in a broader historical and cultural context.

Painting in oils and beyond: Allow me to help you speak with the language of fine art
I have been involved in art for twenty years. I started out painting and selling both oils and watercolours. This developed to become, for a while, the main source of our household income. I managed to have solo exhibitions in Devon and Kent in the UK, as well as USA, Japan and, when I lived in France, several there too. When I returned from France, I started my academic studies in Fine Art Sheffield Hallam and Leeds Arts University where I receive a BA and MA in fine art. I have great interest in the theory of fine art, such as composition, perspective, colour theory; the technology of fine art in understanding materials used and techniques applied. The theories of doing that allow successful expression. As well as purely fine art theory, this allows me to bring in psychology and other scientific thought, not to usurp fine are theory, but to bolster it both to confirm existing theories as well as opening out possible avenues for discovering new ones. In painting I see myself as impressionist but recently have moved more towards realism to better communicate with internet viewer. This is because, when a piece is photographed, people cannot see complexity of the brush strokes used. I like to paint genre where complicated compositions and intellectual work is involved but I also do portraits, still life and landscape. In sculpture I use mostly archaic composition, as exemplified by Henry Moore and Aristide Maillol. I really enjoy sharing my love of art with other. I believe everybody can express themselves through art (and probably should) and I love being a catalyst to make that happen. I do not use restrictive instruction where I tell students what they must do, but help them develop themselves - help them to discover their own way while sharing helpful insights from my own practice and wide knowledge of fine art practice and theory.
