PRIVATE LANGUAGE LEARNING/REVIEW CLASSES

This course is intended for those who wish to familiarize themselves with the French language by means of accessible and educational courses; and also to all those who would like to deepen their knowledge of this language through notably grammar lessons, or conversation lessons. A graduate of the Sorbonne University, with various experiences as a language and general culture teacher for both school and adult audiences; I would be keen to put my experience and skills at your service, or that of your child.

About Me Born in London to French and American parents, I grew up between the three countries and now live in Barcelona. In addition to teaching, I also run my own business as a football agent. Lessons As a friendly tutor that will make lessons fun for you, I want to empower you to achieve your goals! I am able to match the needs of my students depending on their ability level and age. Ranging from five to seventy five, my students appreciate my individualised approach to their learning and my constant attention to their well being and detail. I try to make lessons fun so that you can be empowered to achieve your best results possible! Qualifications After completing a Political Science degree with a focus in International Relations and Spanish at UCLA, I finished, with merit, a postgraduate business degree (MBA) at the University of Liverpool. In addition, I am a certified high school mathematics teacher in the United States with experience teaching subjects such as Algebra I, Algebra II, and test preparation. I taught high school math for multiple years in East LA with the program Teach for America that places top university graduates in under served neighbourhoods. As I lived in the UK for many years and have taught many British students, I am also intimately familiar with the UK curriculum. Furthermore, I have tutored students studying the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum for many years. Lastly, I have a TEFL credential, which has allowed me to teach English to dozens of students.

Multilingualism is becoming more and more important. n addition to opening up employment opportunities, being able to speak a foreign language helps to make a real connection with people and to know more about diverse cultures, places and lifestyles. The more proficient you are, the better you can express yourself. And I am here to help you get there, by learning grammar , conjugation ,vocabulary and day to day speaking or even for a profession. The classes will be helpful and useful, we will discover new ways to learn depending on your personality and try to make it fun learning experience!

A passionate and creative student with more than 10 years of experience in communication in the English language. I am here to help you discover the world of English in a fun and very practical way. My main goal is to improve your speaking by using only English during our classes, as well as enhance your grammar, reading and listening skills. The classes with me are engaging and full of creativity. Moreover, I differentiate myself from other tutors by using my own methodology in teaching. My lessons are a combination of many books, where I pick the most efficient exercises to learn and make a personal "book" for each student depending on what requires more work. From time to time, I organise a group call/meeting, where my students and I communicate with each other over a cup of tea. Hi, My name is Mayte and I have worked as an English and Spanish teacher in different countries, including Madagascar, Kenya, Malta and Dubai. My classes are enjoyable, fun and fly by. The first thing I do is to identify what stage of learning the learner is in and, from there, it provides me with the application of materials necessary to implement a teaching programme. The methodology is adapted to the intended language level, the learning objectives, the age of the learner, the language needs and difficulties. I teach languages in a gradual way, as clearly as possible and making the student feel comfortable, without making him/her feel afraid or embarrassed. I attach as much importance to the theoretical explanation as to the application of theory, and I require my students to be proactive (interactive and participative). When I teach languages, I teach understanding, speaking, reading and writing. Specifically, I teach language as a whole: I teach terminology, semantics (the meaning of morphemes and words and their combinations) and the branches of grammar: morphology (the form and structure of words), sentence syntax (the way words are combined) and word prosody (pronunciation). I teach languages by applying dynamic teaching strategies, using activities that involve the learner, such as exercises, production of written and verbal speeches, games, staging real-life situations, dialogues, debates, reading, listening to the media, etc. The teaching materials I use are effective and meet the following criteria: motivating, attractive, up-to-date (current, relevant topics), clear, appropriate (approachable), inclusive (various possibilities for interaction and different points of view), multimodal (varied), participatory, flexible (adaptable) and creative (original).

I feel confidence is key in overcoming any kind of fear, so I make sure that students get through this, step by step, with practice and communication both inside and outside the classroom. I’m very laid back, but I’m also a perfectionist in the sense that I don’t like to do things ‘half way’; I would rather complete a small task and build things up step by step to produce quality results, rather than do a large and overwhelming task which will only give poor results. The way I tailor each lesson according to the specific student's needs is by beginning to establish the level in which they are at, and then ask them what it is they want to achieve: whether they want me to help them polish up their level of communication at work, within social environments, or even prepare for a specific exam or a performance. Once this is clear, I prepare the lessons in a way that I find is suitable for their objectives, always paying close attention to their performance in order to keep shaping each class in a way that a steady sense of progress is achieved. The classes will always be interactive because I believe this is the best way to ensure continuous interest, and therefore motivation, and that it will help me understand which areas are most difficult for each student so that I can keep shaping the lessons in their favour.
