My lessons are a mix of conversational Italian and grammar explanations, with the aid of written and online resources to practice vocabulary and grammar. I typically start from the Italian words and expressions you might already know (everyone knows more Italian than they think!) and take it from there, with plenty of simulated scenarios where you get to speak like a native among natives (and I get to ridicule myself imitating all sorts of Italian people!). When explaining a new topic, I like to encourage students to use their insight, nudging them when necessary. I have observed how even absolute beginners can easily guess the meaning of a new word or the way a certain word will behave, once certain patterns between and within Italian and English (and possibly other languages) are highlighted. When a student reaches the correct conclusion with just a little help, that is highly rewarding for both the student and the teacher! For more advanced students, the focus is often on vocabulary, pronunciation and grammar nuances. I like to choose a topic together and subsequently bring a written text (like a newspaper article), from which to extract more specialised vocabulary, and which will serve as a basis for discussions and debates.

However I strongly believe that whether you wish to progress your skills on an instrument to a professional level, simply get the most out of playing In a band with friends or jamming along to your favourite playlists, the art of learning an instrument is an incredibly rewarding skill. In our lessons we will focus on building a solid foundation across the basics of playing the Drum Kit. We will discover the rich and diverse history of the instrument and move through the jazz, funk, rock and pop era's of music. While I am happy to tailor all of these lessons to the student's needs, I do believe having a basic knowledge of where the instrument and it's vocabulary came from is essential and will have a positive impact on the students playing. Listening is important! We will work through a number of landmark recordings that carve the path of the Drum Kit's evolution and continue the listening process all the way to your favourite songs and how the drums affect that music and the rest of the band! I am also happy to work through ABRSM, Trinity Guildhall and/or Rockschool exam grades. Music is all about communication, and being able to fluently communicate ideas on any instrument requires time and practice. However, like with your very first English lessons in school, over time you can develop the skill of communication to a point where you can exchange many different ideas and create interesting conversations (this time between musical instruments rather than your friends in the pub!). Although I understand music is a not a career for everyone, I strongly believe that learning how to play any instrument properly with discipline and good practice will enhance your life is more ways than anyone who doesn't play music will understand.

Since greater proportion of the students population at the colleges are struggling in their performance in maths, I am passionate about teaching maths only for now so as to help as much maths students as possible. I make my first tutorial class free so as to develop rapport with a prospective maths student and to enable me identify the areas they need improvement in their performance. The first half of my tuition starts with the fundamental principles of mathematics, showing the students various clues and hints to use in answering maths questions. Special reference is made to acceptable standard marking scheme so the student can understand each topic better and develop more affection for solving mathematical problems. At the second half of my teaching, several examples are worked together with the student, ensuring that the student is fully engaged in the exercises, assimilating the concepts and contributing meaningfully. At the end of the second half of the tutorial, a lot of exercises are given to students as take-home assignments. The submitted assignments are reviewed, scored before the next appointment and corrections made one-to-one with the student next tutorial session. The topics covered are not limited to the core concentration like algebra, trigonometry, calculus, statistics to mention a few, they extend to elementary maths. If the gap in understanding a topic is much, elementary maths is revised with the student prior to teaching any of the core maths topics.
