About Me

I'm a PhD candidate in neuropsycholinguistics and consultant to private clients. My advisory clients include the House of Lords, the NHS, People Primetime International, the Manchester Metropolitan University, Falmouth University, the Emotional Intelligence Academy, the YMCA, the Y Club, the Castelfield Hotel, the National Citizenship Service, Equal Education, etc. My mentoring clients range pre-academic, academic, and professional contexts. My PhD research examines the composite language and communication phenomena of schizophrenia, as relative to figurative language processing, using experimental psycholinguistic methods; my master's dissertation focused on paralinguistics: blended displays (i.e. complex facial expressions) of emotion; and my bachelor's took the form of a stylistics combined honours (i.e. linguistics with creative writing). My vocational experience includes a substantive clinical education post within NHS psychiatric services—specifically, as an interpersonal communications tutor; in parallel, I've provided consultancy services since 2011.

Kevin
Polyglot specialist with 9 years of experience. German in speed mode. Level A1 to C2. No school teaching.
I offer you a German course that is not like the others. There are two types of courses. Here is an analogy to illustrate their respective approaches: If you travel back and forth by train every day and don't have time to wait long at the platform, imagine that you only have two options: 1) Memorise the timetable. 2) Realise that the train comes every ten minutes and that a train arrives for example at 7:00 a.m. In school pedagogy, in textbooks and in normal lessons, the first approach is used - in the course I am offering you, it is the second approach because it is more economical and faster. My offer is aimed at both pupils and adults who want to learn the German language without time-consuming detours through the madness of fruitless school methods. Learning is easy, but unlearning things that have become bad habits is extremely difficult. This makes it all the more important to learn the right reflexes as early as possible. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced learner, with my customised lessons you will greatly accelerate the learning process while having a positive attitude. I offer German lessons for individuals or groups (2 to 5 people). The methods are based on cognitive science and historical linguistics in particular. My modular programme can be adapted on a case-by-case basis. The converging point of these modules is your independence in spontaneous conversations in real life. What will not be covered in the course: learning lists of verbs; learning lists of nouns with articles; learning words with their translations; flashcards; doing school exercises; following the syllabus of a booklet; imposing the English grammar on the German language. What is particularly important to me: to motivate my student and to give him a learning rhythm; to encourage his creativity; to befriend him with the language; the letters and their sounds; to strengthen the memory by training the phonological loop; to teach blueprints instead of memorising sentences; to explain how the language works in order to make my student independent as quickly as possible; to eliminate common preconceptions, such as that 'der' would mean masculine and 'die' feminine, that the accusative would be a direct complement and the dative an indirect complement, that verbs would be irregular, that declension would be random and therefore would have to be learnt with each verb...; to put practice at the centre and only deal with grammar where necessary. A first lesson will give you a sound idea of my pedagogy.

I have been supporting many interested people of different nationalities thanks to online courses since 2018; For me, helping enthusiasts to practice the French language is a very good experience because I understand that success is a capital objective in the life of ambitious people. I speak Arabic, French, Spanish, and also English. I explain my lessons in the language of your choice. And at the end of each session, I give lessons with exercises to do as homework to examine your gaps and monitor your progress. Here are some things to know about the DELF and DALF: The DELF (Diploma of Studies in French Language) and the DALF (Advanced Diploma in French Language) are two official and quality diplomas. German Language for Beginners (Deutsch - A1 und A2)
German as a foreign language can be hard, especially regarding the grammar part. Always focusing on the structures of the sentences can be challenging and demotivating when trying to connect the sentences in a communication environment. That is why with the help of this class, you'll get more confident in building strong sentences without the stress usually involved. As a foreign speaker of German of over 3 years, there's no other person that understands the struggles better than I do. We will cover all the fundamentals with the background of grammar and syntax so that we are able to create a strong base for future advanced levels.

Improve your English pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar with a native English speaker
Many English courses focus on grammar and vocabulary but, if you want to be understood you’ll need to know how to speak clearly, and that means learning the key features of English pronunciation. You may think you need to sound like a native speaker to have good English pronunciation, but this simply isn’t true. Many people have an ‘accent’ when they speak English, but they are easy to understand. In short, good pronunciation is not about accent, but rather clarity of speech. My main areas of teaching English are improving pronunciation, increasing vocabulary and understanding grammar. The lessons are "tailor made" to suit the requirements of the student.

This class will help you structure your understanding of English, Italian or Spanish, with a tailored approach based on your personal needs and requirements (grammar, exam preparation, text comprehension, speaking, essay writing, and so on). Whether you’re a beginner or advanced, my goal is to apply a suitable learning system designed for you. We will go through the requested topic in class and practice together; then, I will assign you a specific task/assignment after class so that you can apply what you learned with me and ask relevant questions if needed.
