Have you been trying to teach yourself the guitar and still find it a pain to play? Or have you been taking lessons and still feel restricted and unhappy? Do not fear, Yvette (she/her) is here to help! With my classes, not only will you learn to play with ease, you will also be able to crack the code of music, so you will understand how notes, chords, rhythm and music theory relate to each other. You will no longer be simply playing through mindless memorization or repetition. You will also learn how to listen to yourself and recognize when you have played well, and when you have made mistakes. Although I am classically trained, I started guitar playing rhythmic music, such as nirvana and the beatles, and I still have a deep understanding of the style and have taught it for years. I aim to teach guitar the right way, without taking short cuts that limit knowledge and development later on. I have a personalised approach to each student, refusing to force them to play exactly as I do, but helping them to refine their own innate technique. To that end, I create my own exercises for my students, compiling the best from the existing literature, and am working to creating my own guitar method book. Hey! My name is Richard and I give private lessons to all levels. For guitar, it is important that you can improve yourself in a pleasant environment in a fun way where your interests are central. Do you want to delve deeper into a certain style? Do you want to create your own sound on your guitar using amps, and pedals, ...? I can help you with all that! Knowledge of solfège or music theory is not required, we can always discuss this in class if you wish, but that is certainly not mandatory ;) I have been playing the guitar since I was 9 years old and for several years now I have been playing in professional bands with which I have been able to play on sugar rock, for example. The lessons would take place at my home in Mol or via webcam. If necessary, we can always agree on something else.
