Hello everyone! I hold a doctorate in Italian, have been teaching Italian for 5 years and hold a CELTA teaching qualification. I've been preparing students for the A-Levels and GCSE (language + literature). I can prepare you for specific examinations, language lessons in general or teach you Italian for business. The lessons are for everyone, whatever their age or level (children to adults). I will make sure that you discover the Italian culture through the lessons, learn the correct pronunciation and of course learn some grammar. I am open to your needs and can speak a few languages to make sure you understand fully the lessons (of course, we’ll try to use mostly Italian in all our lessons depending on your level). - I'm a professional Italian teacher from Italy, now living in Rome. I have 10 years teaching experience. I am very patient and I love to make a relaxed and friendly class environment. I have qualifications and experience teaching at different levels and in different contexts. I can help the student to improve the oral, written, and comprehension skills. Most important is that each course is based on the needs, interests and availability of the student. - The method is mainly what is called communicative, aimed at stimulating the student to speak immediately and put the focus on the functional aspect of the language. My name is Sara and I am Italian and pentalingual! I love languages and since many years I am teaching Italian, Spanish, French, English and Portuguese (I also speak a little Arabic!). Each person has their own pace of learning, so classes will be based on the needs of each student, their interests and their prior knowledge (and if there is no foreknowledge better! We can start this wonderful learning journey together!).

In this course, you will learn a range of linguistic methods and learn the terms used for describing a specific aspect of language or phenomenon (lexis, morphemes, and 'telegraphic stage' to give a few examples). The course requires you to explore your own data using quantitative and qualitative analysis (eg: how frequently are slang phrases used? Are there new auxiliaries being created?). No historical linguistics or literature is involved, but language change or specific traits will be sampled via your own data collection (if this is what is demanded in your course). As many students need to present a "year abroad" dissertation at University level (3rd year in the UK of a Modern Languages or Linguistics Undergraduate course) I can help you to research and structure your year abroad work, both in English (Linguistics) and Romance languages (French, Italian, Spanish). The topics that have arisen from recent discussions with students relate to French Caribbean writing, Italian resistance and reprisals in Rome (Fosse Ardiatine), and Spanish Etica franquista in films (among others).

If you've decided to keep reading, it's probably because you're thinking about learning a new language, so the first thing I want to say is: CONGRATULATIONS! :) Learning something new is always a good idea! With that said, let me introduce myself. I have a degree in Linguistic and Cultural Mediation and a degree in International Relations. I have been teaching Italian as a foreign language for many years and in the past I have also been giving some Spanish classes, so I want to assure you that despite your level of Italian, we will not have communication problems and we will be able to use Spanish as an auxiliary language :) Throughout my professional career I have had experiences in different types of classes, both in Italy and Spain. Thanks to them I have learned how important it is to use varied teaching methods since each person learns in their own way. What works for you may not work for another person and that is why I have decided not to adopt a predefined methodology and to adapt my way of teaching to the needs, objectives and interests of the person(s) who participate in my classes. I like to improvise and have a class as entertaining as possible, mixing linguistic elements with cultural themes. This is more or less a summary of who I am and how I see teaching.
