I have been teaching Italian for more than 30 years. I started in Milan, I then went to San Francisco and now here in London. My first lesson with you would be to assess your level and start speaking Italian by writing in the chat if we are on Skype or on your notebook if we meet face to face. I use also paintings to explore vocabulary and if you live here in London, we would meet at the National Gallery for example and explore the Italian language through what we see in the painting.

Italian language and culture. According to the student’s level, I will provide both online or in person lessons on Italian vocabulary, grammar and, where appropriate, on some issues and topics in Italian culture and literature. We will focus on listening, reading, writing and speaking and we will prioritize one of these competences according to the student’s necessities.

Knowing languages is a powerful skill to have. I am a native Italian speaker and during this class I am to provide you with a friendly approach to learning Italian in an easy and fun way. When I teach I like to use linguistics to find similarities between various languages and show the relevant links that make languages so rich and interconnected. Lessons will be face-to-face but I am also willing to teach online.

With over 10 years of teaching experience, including 7 in France, in Paris, I offer courses for all levels, focused on your professional, academic or personal needs and requirements. I worked as an Italian language and culture trainer for staff from various companies (Yves Saint Laurent, SNCF, Alstom, Orange), supporting and training them in writing emails, simulating calls to customers and suppliers, negotiation and informal conversation. I was also a teacher at the Italian Cultural Center in Paris, as well as at the Municipal Courses of the Paris City Hall, managing classes of more than 30 students. I was born and studied in Rome, where I obtained a Diploma in Literature and Cinema and a Master II in Foreign Languages for International Cooperation. I have qualifications and experience teaching at different levels and in different contexts. I can help the student to improve the oral, written, and comprehension skills. Most important is that each course is based on the needs, interests and availability of the student. - The method is mainly what is called communicative, aimed at stimulating the student to speak immediately and put the focus on the functional aspect of the language. For beginners, I usually follow a specific program, I prepare a course and for each lesson I send students the files that I scan from the various books. Also the lessons can be essentially developed as conversations on specific subjects.

If you wish to brush up your Italian, resume a past series of lessons, or simply start from scratch learning Italian, this is the right lesson for you! I like to personalize each class/course according to the needs and goals of my students. My classes are focused on improving the student's communication skills. At beginner and lower intermediate levels, I prefer using a text book/ student book in the first part of the class. I usually use "Nuovissimo Progetto Italiano" and "Arrivederci" by Edilingua, or "Nuovo Espresso" and "Dieci" by Alma Publishing. For the second part of the lesson, I create engaging contents using original videos, press articles, extracts from blogs and social media, literary texts. If the students do not feel comfortable using Italian from scratch, I can switch to English, German, or Dutch. The course fee includes the correction of home assignments.
