I’m an experienced guitarist and I can help those of all abilities and ages looking to learn the instrument or develops their skills. I’ve been playing for 16 years and I’m well versed in most genres and styles of music. Open to all stages of learning whether you want to focus on fundamentals and guitar theory or develop your own style and technique. I can support anyone looking to gain knowledge of harmony, chord melody, soloing, popular and unconventional song structure and style. Or if you want to learn other songs and build up your repertoire. My musical background is primarily as a jazz guitarist, specialising in improvisation and composition. This is something I can work on with students once core skills are acquired. I can also help get students get up to speed with their grade exams and offer musical theory support. Aside from my experience as a guitarist, I play in different bands as a Writer and composer. I have experience as a recording artist at Abbey Road studios and I can teach students about song writing and composition. I’m fluent on music softwares such as Logic Pro X and Ableton and offer Music Production and Recording technique classes at my own studio in Clapton East London. My name is Marat and I am a London-based pianist, musicologist and composer with more than 20 years of experience. I am also a dedicated and experienced piano, composition, music theory and music technology tutor offering excellent and in-depth tuition for any age or ability. I have been teaching extensively in schools and privately, and giving lectures at universities. I would be happy to share my passion and enthusiasm for music with you! My musical path started at Moscow Jurgenson Music School in Russia at the age of 7 where I took my first piano and music theory lessons. In 2015, I graduated from Goldsmiths, University of London specialising in classical and contemporary performance (under Andrew Zolinsky) and music education. Recently, I have completed my masters programme at Goldsmiths, University of London specialising in contemporary musicology (under Keith Potter) and music management. Since 2012, I have been performing and premiering contemporary classical music solo or with ensembles at various venues and events, including IKLECTIK, Arebyte Gallery, Sound Festival, Southbank Centre, Cheltenham Music Festival and Teatro Baltazar Dias (Madeira, Portugal). I am a core member of the New Maker Ensemble, a group dedicated to experimenting with various art forms of new music and performance art. I regularly write articles and album reviews about new music. I have given lectures and presentations on new music at various conferences and events, including the Gnesin Contemporary Music Week 2020, 2021 and 2022, the Gnesin Academy and ZIL Culture Centre. And I even have my own podcast about new music. Tuition is open for both online and in-person classes. All ages and abilities welcome: from age 5 to adult learners, beginner to advanced. If you are looking to do ABRSM instrumental exams, you will need to pass grade 5 music theory in order to progress to grade 6 in your instrumental exams, therefore I will be able to guide you to passing your grade 5 theory paper and beyond. I am also a professional freelance musician and conductor, for anyone interested in conducting, we can discuss how to approach a score in relation to this.

Hey! My name is Richard and I give private lessons to all levels. For guitar, it is important that you can improve yourself in a pleasant environment in a fun way where your interests are central. Do you want to delve deeper into a certain style? Do you want to create your own sound on your guitar using amps, and pedals, ...? I can help you with all that! Knowledge of solfège or music theory is not required, we can always discuss this in class if you wish, but that is certainly not mandatory ;) I have been playing the guitar since I was 9 years old and for several years now I have been playing in professional bands with which I have been able to play on sugar rock, for example. The lessons would take place at my home in Mol or via webcam. If necessary, we can always agree on something else.
