Saxophone Lessons - Jazz Improvisation - All Levels

Pianist and musicologist, I have been teaching piano in all styles (classical, jazz, film and popular music) to students of all ages for almost 20 years. The teaching is modern, adapted to each student and combines music theory and instrument. Lessons at home or at the student's home (Woluwe-Saint-Lambert, Woluwe-Saint-Pierre, Schaerbeek, Saint-Josse, Evere and other neighboring municipalities, occasionally in Walloon Brabant). Classes can be given in French, English or Spanish.

I am a trained singer- songwriter & professional musician with a BA (hons) in Composition. Originally from london I moved to Brussels to do my masters degree. I am a trained singing with a level of grade 8, I have also spent the last 6 years touring as a front women and also a backing singing with various artists around europe, including 1 top 10 artist. I understand that although it's great to have a strong technique it's also about letting go and having confidence in your ability so you can relax in the moment. I welcome students of all levels and all ages and teach a range of genres from Jazz to Rock. Alternatively I am happy to focus on technique if that is something you prefer to work on. I am Henry, concert pianist, currently a student at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. I have had extensive experience as a soloist on stages and in concerts, as well as experience as a teacher for children and adults with very good results. The teaching method involves different learning processes in the student; - recognition of notes on the keyboard - correct positioning of hands and fingers - learning to read sheet music - learning works and resources to interpret them - basic musical, melodic and rhythmic theory.

Are you a beginner?? No worries: no experience is required! 😁 I can teach you the basics to produce sounds with your saxophone: position of the embouchure (teeth, tongue, lips and vocal cords' position, an element often forgotten), fingerings, use of diafragma,... After the first two lessons spent on the mouthpiece and neck for the sound production, we will immediately start to play some super easy duos together to practice your capacity of listening, pay attention to the other, ear training as well. I normally use the book of Peter Wastall (titled Learn as you play) as support, but it is not mandatory. There are plenty of good books btw! Are you an intermediate / advanced student?? I am sure you can still improve in all the basics, but on a different level. I'll teach you the importance of the "voicing" (technique named by the american saxophonist and pedagogue Donald Sinta) to improve your sound production and projection as well as the capacity of correcting and improving the intonation. You can learn all about phrasing and music interpretation, from tonal music until contemporary atonal compositions. And still, you can improve your playing together, practicing in duo on different aspects like tuning, balance, interpretation, performance etc. Book a lesson and try! I teach Classical Piano, Jazz, Pop, Variety, Rock, Solfege and Harmony, for beginners or for more advanced levels and for all ages (children, teenagers, adults). I also work with the singers who need to learn the chords and general bases of Harmony applied to the Piano.

My singing lessons are designed to help each student express themselves to the fullest, accompanying them in the process of discovering their own voice. I give in-person and online voice lessons for students of all levels and needs with a personalized curriculum depending on the student's interests and style preference. During my lessons I range from vocal technique to music theory with the intent of creating a personal and varied repertoire that follows the aptitude and predisposition of the student. I also offer the opportunity to explore the area of composition and interpretation.
