I am Zhanshu, a cellist from China with extensive experience in cello playing and music education. I previously obtained my Postgraduate Diploma at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in the UK and then completed my Master's degree at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Germany. I currently teach at several music schools and have experience teaching students of all ages and ability levels. Through my many years of teaching practice, I have gained valuable experience and can develop an individually tailored curriculum for each student. I offer flexible lesson times, which can be booked in different lengths (30, 45, 60, 90 minutes). I believe that every student has a unique musical potential, so I always adapt my lessons to the needs and goals of my students to help them progress in both technique and musical expression.

I would like to focus the classes according to what you need. For example, we will not put the same level of demand if you want to play for pleasure at home without haste or if you want to do some entrance exams to musical studies (although always with the same good rigor). The needs of each student can vary the methodology, the way of organizing the study sessions, the postural work, the repertoire... - Once we know what we want to achieve and by when, classes will begin in a relaxed atmosphere. Important! Relaxed is not equal to undemanding or rigorous, just that we will try not to resort to military methods, especially given my character and sense of humor ;). - Something important to note is that my methods are very dynamic and with special emphasis on the development of the ear and musicality. No reading, spitting and changing songs. I try to avoid methods that focus too much on the continuous reading of scores without memorizing, listening or understanding what is being done and why, especially so that later you can make your own aesthetic decisions and feel ownership of your performance. My bachelor's degree at the Conservatory of Ghent (Belgium) taught me what music interpretation is. At the Peter Cornelis Conservatory I learned the important basics of cello and music teaching. In recent years I have gained a lot of experience teaching cello in individual and group lessons as well as in string class lessons. The way of teaching will suit the level of the student (for beginners I divide the lessons into two parts: half basic music theory and the other half cello), and I will always have my cello with me to illustrate.
