First Lesson
Typically, the first lesson begins with an introduction and informal chat where Rafael and his students get to know each other and discuss the student’s musical interests and aspirations. Rafael offers a wide range of experiences and is interested in focusing on ways to help each student achieve their maximum potential. Whatever your background, age group or level, whether you coming to instruction for the first time, returning after many years, continuing study after conservatory, preparing for exams or even on a professional path Rafael has enough knowledge. He’s able to adapt his instruction according to individual needs and preferences of each student by providing books, exercises and/or repertoire. In-person lessons usually take place at Rafael’s teaching studio or alternatively on student’s chosen location.
Beginners
Rafael understands that starting your journey on learning a new musical instrument can be difficult which is why he’s always a supportive and encouraging teacher towards new students. Beginner students don’t need to have any prior experience whatsoever when it comes to either playing or being able to read music. On the 1st lesson usually there’s no need to own an instrument as Rafael will provide everything necessary and guide each student on the basics of how to play the instrument they’re learning. By the end of the 1st lesson students are usually able to play a few notes on the instrument and have all the basic knowledge needed to start learning and begin their musical journey. To benefit from Rafael’s teaching, it’s recommended that student have their own instrument (Saxophone, Clarinet or Flute) although, Rafael has knowledge on available and affordable instrument hire services as well as provides guidance to all students on purchasing their first instrument

Saxophone and Composition lesson with a Qualified Music Teacher for Middle SchoolHave you ever wanted to learn how to play the saxophone but have no idea where to start?
Do you want to learn how to compose music or give a shape to those songs you always had in mind?
You are in the right place then!!!
Hi! My name is Carlo. I am an Italian classical and jazz saxophonist and composer.
I am also a qualified music teacher for Italian middle school, with a solid preparation in the psycho-pedagogical field.
As a teacher, I believe that any student has different ways to learn and approach music.
Therefore, I will create for you a personalized but also funny and engaging learning path that would fit perfectly with your inclinations and musical tastes!
My method consist in alternating the study of the instruments with some music theory. In this way, you will comprehend what you are playing, using the so-called method "learning by doing", for a gradual and steady learning.
My approach includes also the use of little percussions, body movements and singing, in accord with the tradition of Orff, Kodaly and Dalcroze methods. I will also start teaching you from any songs you already know - it will surprise you seeing how many things you already know about music!
You will see how funny is it to learn music in this way!
For any level and any age!
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
- How to play the saxophone, with focus on posture, embouchure, air steam, sound, technique, top tones etc;
- Or how to compose, from songwriting to orchestra's writing, including counterpoint, orchestration and analysis;
- How to improvise, without becoming a "music stand addict";
- Music theory lessons step by step with the instrument development;
- Playing with others: you will play with your teacher (me!) in a saxophones duet or in a piano and saxophone duet. If you have a fellow musician, bring it for a group lesson! I will make some music arrangements to play all together.
WHAT YOU WILL GET
- If you don't have a saxophone (yet); a saxophone for the first lesson with possibility of rent;
- Digital didactic material;
- Professional and serious teacher;
- Possibility of group lesson;
- Friendly environment;
- A cup of tea to better start the lesson :)

Flute and Music Theory tuition for students of all levelsI have played the flute for more than 20 years, and have been teaching since 2011. I offer flute lessons to children aged 8 and up, and adults at all levels from beginners to post Grade 8.
I also teach recorder to younger beginners- I find this is a good stepping stone for younger children as it's more comfortable for smaller beginners to hold, and easier to make a sound on.
Learn to pass exams or just for fun- many of my students achieve highly in ABRSM and Trinity grades, but some prefer not to take exams and this is fine too.
Whatever your level, one to one tuition means that I can tailor my teaching to your needs as a flute player, and my teaching takes into account the reasons you learn an instrument, encompassing a wide variety of repertoire.
I also teach music theory- lots of students come to me to help prepare for Grade 5 theory, and I also teach higher theory grades.

Jazz Saxophone & Classical/Jazz Composition LessonsHi, I’m Cassie—a British jazz saxophonist, award-winning composer, and Trinity Laban Conservatoire graduate, now based in Berlin. I’m currently looking for a couple of private saxophone and/or composition students who are keen to develop their skills in a supportive and engaging environment.
Saxophone Lessons:
With a strong background in Jazz and improvised music, I offer saxophone lessons tailored to each student’s needs—whether you’re preparing for ABRSM or Royal College exams (or other equivalent examination boards), exploring jazz improvisation, or just playing for fun. As a performer, I’ve played at major festivals and venues across the UK, USA & Europe such as Glastonbury Festival (UK, SXSW (USA) and Paris Jazz Festival (FR). I am still active as a touring band-leader/artist and I bring that real-world experience into my teaching.
Composition Lessons:
As a classical composer, my work spans orchestral, chamber, and jazz ensemble writing, with commissions from leading arts organisations and orchestras - recent commissions include the London Symphony Orchestra and BBC Philharmonic. My lessons focus on notation, orchestration, and arranging—whether you’re composing for small ensembles or larger-scale works. I hold a BMus Hons degree in composition from Trinity Laban Conservatoire (London) where I studied with American composer Stephen Montague and British composer Andrew Poppy.
Composition lessons I am able to teach both in-person and online via Zoom.
If you're interested or have any questions, feel free to get in touch!
Looking forward to making music with you! 🎷🎼
