We learn the rhythms with claps and rhymes, but I often explain the bar structure by assembling Lego blocks. I show musicality and technique accompanied by songs, improvisation, playing the flute or piano together. You don't even notice, you're so good at it that you can give your family your own concert. And if you already play the flute, bring your favorite pieces, even pop songs, to class! If you're playing with a band, I'll give you ideas and tips. I have played the flute for more than 20 years, and have been teaching since 2011. I offer flute lessons to children aged 8 and up, and adults at all levels from beginners to post Grade 8. I also teach recorder to younger beginners- I find this is a good stepping stone for younger children as it's more comfortable for smaller beginners to hold, and easier to make a sound on. Learn to pass exams or just for fun- many of my students achieve highly in ABRSM and Trinity grades, but some prefer not to take exams and this is fine too.
