My first priority is making sure your student understands that I'm not extra, boring schooling. With my fifteen years of experience in mentoring and my commitment to understanding students' needs, we will accomplish this within our first meeting. Often times, students need either support with structure or being intellectually challenged, but I offer both these outcomes. I look at previous assignments and assessments, and I use this data to understand what skills to focus on, accordingly with the standards of your country's education system (I'm familiar with the American and German standards). I also take into account, however, what exists outside of the data, including interests and needs not specified on paper. I tailor my lessons then to be worth everyone's time. I foster skills in research, organization, and writing so that students will continue benefiting long after our sessions. I utilize tools, such as games, and projects to take learning off the page. My courses are aimed at primary and secondary school students, but I also take on working adults and college and graduate-level students as I support effective literacy at every level.

At grammar school I was in an English profile class, and in addition to in-depth English lessons, I was also able to enjoy geography and biology in English, as well as several student exchanges to England. This was followed by the advanced English course on the Abitur - here I took part in the Model United Nations. I am a native German speaker and my English language skills correspond to the certified FCE level (final grade A = C1 level). I am a 25-year-old Australian law student who has come to live in Berlin for a year. I would like to help anyone who wants to learn English (at any level) achieve their goals. I have been learning languages (French and German) since I was 12, so I know what it is like to learn a new language and the effort that is required. I have also learned in this time that everyone learns differently, and so I will take a flexible approach to tutor English so that you, the student, can get the most out of your time. As a law student, I have a lot of exposure to "proper" English, as I have to read around 300 pages of very high-level English every week and analyse the meaning behind the text. I am also expected to write all of my essays in this style. I am happy to teach English that is more directed towards study or work, but I am just as happy to teach everyday conversational English as well so that you can sound more like a native speaker (I can even throw in some Aussie slang if you'd like!).
