In this class I will help you navigate the content and give you tips and tricks on how to prepare for the exams and complete your assignments (e.g. IAs/EEs for the IBD Programme). It is suited for students who want to revise before an exam, switch from standard to higher level subject, want to have a head start on the course material before starting IB or need help with their assignments. First and foremost my lessons are tailored to YOUR needs - how you learn makes a big impact on your understanding of school material. I create a comfortable, relaxed and motivating space where you can come to at ANY knowledge/skill level and ASK all of your questions. :) Despite my science-heavy background I make the lessons creative and fun and encourage my students to think outside of the science subjects. My tutoring style is discussion-based. We will have a conversation about the subjects rather than a lecture, which will give you the tools and confidence to better synthesize the course content and present your ideas in a specific manner. I create my own materials for each class, including definitions, calculations, diagrams and past-exam questions. I use a touchscreen tablet to interactively annotate our class worksheets, draw structures and mechanisms, write down chemical reactions and step-by-step calculations.

Hello! My name is Maria, I am an university graduate (Biology Degree) with more than 8 years of experience in teaching, and currently completing a PhD in Neuroscience. I am a native teacher from Barcelona, with a degree in History and as a Spanish teacher for foreigners. In order to do so, we will work on all the different competences (oral and writing skills), grammar and vocabulary, of course, but also I like to use some real texts, videos, songs, etc., so we can get the chance to learn from real instructional materials and discuss the news and culture. I quickly realized that the system that schools often use does not reflect the human learning process. As children, we first learn a few words and over time we develop language skills through mistakes and a fearless approach to the language. It is only later, at school, that our communication skills are refined. So why should we memorize the correct tenses and sentence constructions right from the start if we can not express ourselves yet? When we learn a new language, we often spend a lot of time constructing the perfect sentence in our head instead of speaking it.
