Beginner course to learn to play classical piano

My name is Marina, I am from Malaga, I have been playing the violin since I was 4 years old and I would love to be able to transmit my passion for it to you. I am currently studying my 2nd year of Higher Education in Barcelona and I have worked with beginner students previously. I can also teach musical language reinforcement classes. A young and enthusiastic tutor who has more than 15 years of experience in musical performance, who is constantly developing her skills and learning new instruments (currently, violin and guitar :). I come from Ukraine and have a diploma from a completed 8-year piano, music theory and choir degree from Russian and Ukrainian musical academies. I am very proud of the educational background I have since my teachers had always been very strict yet fair with their ways of teaching, which gave me a strong base as a musician, and, later on, as a tutor. Moreover, I have studied psychology here in Spain for 3 years at a university, so I get on well with many different personalities and know how to approach stressful situations. I must mention that I am passionate about spending my time with kids and sharing the skills and experience I have with people. I speak Spanish, but offer classes in English, so my students can also practice their English while in the class. Of course, if the student prefers to keep it in Spanish, it is not a problem for me. I am happy to help beginners with meeting piano for the first time, as well as tutoring students with some experience to help them with practising at home, pointing out the most crucial areas of improvement in order to reach the best result possible. Regarding the working hours, they need to be confirmed before booking the lesson, since I may/may not be available sometimes. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any doubts or questions! I have finished my Master degree in Piano at the Conservatori del Liceu (Barcelona) this year, and I have many years of experience teaching, children and younger students, as well as adult people. I teach for all levels, from children starting from zero to students who want to prepare certifications at the Conservatories, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age. I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Starting from that point I teach the position of the hand, the arm and the whole body at the piano, the fundamentals of the piano technique (giving great importance to the percussive movement of the finger and the distribution of weight), the understanding of musical language, the expression of the personality through the keyboard, the search for touch and knowledge of piano repertoire.

My objective is to share the knowledge in Carnatic music that I have gained over all these years with the same passion that I learned it with. My teaching techniques involve discussing theories, understanding ragam, talam, and its built, and appreciation of Carnatic, light and film music creations. I would teach and encourage my students to listen to the previously created music and discuss its intricacies. You can learn from the basics to the advanced level along with vocal exercises and breathing exercises required for the music practice. You can get trained to perform in open-stage concerts and competitions as well.

Welcome to my online Piano Class. I will happily help you achieve your musical goals, from the basic fundamentals of piano playing (reading music, positioning your hands on the keys) to building a wonderful sound and technique, allowing you to play anything you wish, from simple melodies to the renown classical piano repertoire of any era. The 30 mins lesson option is just for the new students, so we can meet, discuss, see what you need (level, scores, etc) and, of, course, start to play! I respect every student, I listen to any concerns and I am always happy and creative in helping everyone to get into music. My greatest happiness is to watch my students overcome any limit or freight and expand in full potential! On Sept 1st 2024 three of my awarded students were invited to perform at The DiMenna Classical Center of Music in Manhattan! From my childhood I have been studying music and art: sang in choir and solo, played piano, painted, studied music history and literature, solfeggio. Later in college I have also learned choir conducting, had ensemble and choir singing lessons, cultural studies. During last year in university I had pedagogy practice at university and at private art school (where I worked as a music tutor before the war - piano, voice). I truly enjoyed working with students. They all were different age (8 - 40+ years old) and level. But all were very interesting and work was pleasant. My education was very various: my core subjects were conducting, choir, voice, piano. So it allowed me to work with children, teens and adults with quite wide range of interests and needs: some students needed/wanted to learn particular composition(s), sometimes pop songs arrangements, some were interested in “introduction” to the music, some wanted to renew skills they gained in their childhood and continue their journey to the music world. In addition I prepared presentations (which contained information about cultural and historical background and musical and character/art analysis). So after graduation from choir conducting faculty (which allowed me to deepen my knowledge in many important compatible branches) I concentrated on studying classical singing and piano, expanded my cultural studies and analysis knowledge, practiced solfeggio and harmony.
