Harmony and Classical WritingThis applied music theory course is for any passionate musician, regardless of level.
It aims to broaden his musical knowledge and abilities by understanding music as a whole. The goal is to be able to decode and understand how a music (not only of classical style, but also pop, jazz, rock, electro, ...) was composed, and to be able to use interesting harmonies oneself. and solid in a personal composition / production.
It is made up of two main topics:
* Harmony (building chords, understanding chord diagrams, learning to Harmonize a given melody, the possibility or not of using these Harmonies in a given style, etc.).
But also understand the key, how to build a scale, how to navigate between different keys, how to transform a classic chord suite into another style?
Harmony is a course open to all and all levels, no prerequisites to have. Any passionate musician will find interest in it, that's guaranteed.
* Writing is a much more targeted course, which is already an introduction to classical composition. In this branch, we will develop the rules of classical writing (parallel fifths and octaves, false relations etc, ...) within the framework of an exercise based on a given melody or bass (in the first case it will be necessary to invent harmonization and compose a bass, in the second, it will be necessary to invent the harmonization and the melody).
This course can also be used by academy or conservatory students who wish to prepare for the writing exam, or simply to deepen their knowledge.

Piano: Learn to play your favorite pieces/songs on pianoTo learn to play the piano well, you have to be passionate! And what better method than by learning your favorite songs! This is exactly what I propose. First, you will learn to play by memory and some easy tricks, then you will learn to play with scores that I will personally write to adapt them perfectly to your level!
I learned by being at the classical academy for 12 years and giving lessons for almost 10 years, that in the end, it is the students who are passionate about the pieces they play, who will become good pianists.
As an additional option, I offer composition and harmony lessons, to ensure that step by step you can compose small pieces up to multi-instrument arrangements.
I am already looking forward to meeting you and starting your classes very soon!

Composition and arrangement, song writing, clarinet.I’m a composer who works in collaborative settings : I write with and for people. I am therefore used to working from a creative idea to a fully fledged composition that can be arranged according to different set ups.
I know most instruments so I can help you to orchestrate and your work so it can be performed by anyone of any level.
I play piano, clarinet and bass clarinet : contact me if you want a lesson on those instruments.
I am a free improviser, I tend to play with my students, write pieces with and for them rather than go through method books.
I studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (clarinet and composition), then became a tutor of the Performance and Communication Skill course. I’ve worked with Music in Prisons, making songs with inmates for many years. I’ve lived in Belgium since 2004. I was composer in residence at ReMuA for 15 years.
