Painting and drawing lessons with Nadia Lyapina Course description: This course is designed for anyone interested in developing their artistic skills in painting and drawing, regardless of their level. Led by Impressionist artist Nadia Lyapina, this course covers a wide range of techniques and approaches, with a particular focus on each student's individual preferences. Course program: 1. The basics of drawing and composition In the first few classes, we'll cover the basics of observational drawing, exploring light, shadow, perspective, and anatomy. Exercises will include drawing a variety of objects, helping you develop your precision and attention to detail. 2. Work on color and painting techniques A significant portion of the course will be devoted to mastering various painting techniques. We will work with oil, watercolor, gouache, and acrylic, learning to combine colors harmoniously and create expressive works of art. 3. Impressionism and contemporary styles I will share with you my knowledge of the Impressionist style, including how to convey light and atmosphere using bright, pure colors. Students will also discover contemporary techniques, such as abstraction and realism, to broaden their artistic horizons. 4. Personalized exercises and constructive feedback An essential part of this course is working one-on-one with each student. Each participant will receive exercises tailored to their level, allowing them to work on improving specific skills. I will provide detailed feedback and recommendations to foster the development of each student's unique artistic style. 5. Exhibition of students' works At the end of the course, each participant will have the opportunity to present their work in a final exhibition. This is an excellent opportunity to showcase your progress and meet other artists, while gaining confidence in your own work. I also highly recommend my student take excellent notes during my demonstrations and instruction time. I will always share my own notes and sketch journals so the student has a goal in mind. After a section of tuition has been completed (equal to a half term) I examine the notes and give feedback. Egg tempera is one of the most ancient historical art painting technique. It preserved as a main technique to paint orthodox religious icons. It is possible to learn it and paint your own icon. I have 9 years of practice teaching people how to do it. We work together step by step to understand the technique, the way to prepare wooden panel to paint an icon and the techniques of making a good project to make the icon fit to the board. We also learn how to make gold leaf layer on the nimbs. Your icon will be a real, crafted icon.

I am a visual artist born in Barcelona, settled in Belgium since 2017. As an artist I have accumulated experience for the last 25 years. I am graduated with an Academic Bachelor in Fine Arts in the University of Barcelona and graduated as a Master in Visual Arts at Sint Lucas School of Arts in Antwerpen. I am specialised in painting, drawing, experimental films, installations, language, sound and curating. In other words, I am a multidisciplinary artist. I understand the artistic practice as a way to understand ourselves and the situations which surrounds us. In my classes I don't teach how to do Art, but as how to say something through your artistic work. With me you can work independently, with a coach who will challenge you with some assignments and giving feedback to your personal concerns. In addition, you will learn how to work with several mediums, preparing your own material: paintings, canvases, and so on. You will not only receive individual coaching but as encourage you to look other artists or take into account other references connected with your concerns. I am an artist and philosopher from Amsterdam currently living in Antwerp. I studied in London where I acquired a BA from Art Academy London and a BA in philosophy from St Mary's University London. Artistic development starts by identifying your artistic interest. As artists, we don't always know why we draw and paint the things that we do. Yet they are not random. What captivates us or draws us towards certain artworks? This might be the tonal way in which light reflects, structural forms or mathematical division. The point being, is that we all have such aesthetic interests and step 1 is finding out what interests you! Step 2 is helping you express your interests through painting techniques, styles and materiality. But it all starts with you. What do you want to say? And how? I will help you do this through discussion, looking at your previous work (if you have any), introducing you to a LARGE variety of artists, potentially copying their styles. I adjust my classes according to your needs. The goal is simple: to come to understand your artistic interest, help you find techniques to express them and develop your artistic language. (Please note that just because you have found an artistic interest and a way to express it, it does not mean that you must do only one thing for the rest of your life. It is the downfall of creativity to repeat and paint the same way over and over again. Instead, allow your interests to drive your creativity. Let it be the starting point, venture out and discover it from various angles and ways of expressing it they change, we must remain honest and respond accordingly such that our artistic language can also grow.) This class supports students who wish to enter the world of drawing or improve their drawing practice in the classical tradition. Students will learn to take a slow, thoughtful, methodical approach to observing light and form and depicting it on a surface using principles of shape, proportion and tone, and a balance of optical and conceptual knowledge. This class is suitable for beginner students who want to explore a new method of drawing, and also for those who are already familiar with drawing and wish to refine their skills.

Holder of a Bachelor's degree in contemporary dance and creation of multidisciplinary performances from the Iceland University of the Arts, a Master 2 in Art Research & International Creation from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, I am an artist member of the International Dance Council at UNESCO. Since 2020, I have been engaged in academic research on medical and spiritual dance whose practice is called Transcendental Dance (Transcendental Embodiment). I intend to present this research in a doctoral contract. My professional experience extends internationally where I had the opportunity to work alongside various renowned companies and to organize internships in France, Iceland, Sweden, Mexico, Czech Republic, Spain, Turkey and Asia. Also, I had the opportunity to dance for haute couture houses during Fashion Week in Paris. I teach contemporary dance, technical floorwork (floor work), contact dance and classical dance. My classes focus on mindfulness, musicality, harmonization of energy flows, improvisation, muscle strengthening and coaching in choreographic composition for competitions, exams, galas, and weddings. It ties up the skill sets of an artist with history, politics and events that would have enhanced a masterpiece. Having worked as a tutor in adult learning, I can provide varied topics of study in Masterpieces, hidden secrets and political influences. As a practising artist, I can provide drawing and painting in watercolours, Acrylics and silk painting.

KEY OBJECTIVES: • To introduce the right toolkit to take on contemporary art of any kind, no matter how difficult, minimal and conceptually driven it may be. • To learn to spot and call out artwork that is being difficult or challenging because it’s a load of rubbish. • To make you feel more confident when making and looking at contemporary art! How can we be so categorical about something as subjective as deciding if art is ‘good’ or ‘bad’? Think of it like this: If you’re not any good at carpentry, you can still identify a poorly made coffee table. Basically, what we’re going to try to do is understand how to recognise if an artwork has been responsibly made or not. In the case contemporary art that has been made responsibly, this class will suggest that your kid could not have made it, any more than they could have removed your appendix, designed a suspension bridge or landed a crashing helicopter. In the case of art that has not been made responsibly, then yes, perhaps your kid could have made it.
