With 16 years of teaching experience in outstanding UK and international schools and a Master's degree in Primary Maths teaching, I can offer tutoring in all primary subjects for children aged 3-12. I am a patient and caring teacher who endeavors to make learning an enjoyable experience tailored to each child's specific needs. I strive to close knowledge gaps, which in turn leads to excellent progress. Additionally, I can accommodate siblings if necessary.

I specialise in English (British & American) tuition for native and non-native speakers of all ages, and have experience working with: • young children learning English for the first time • primary- and secondary-school students studying the English language and its literatures • adult professionals and seniors wishing to improve their language skills, or develop pronunciation or presentational skills I have two degrees in English language and literature (B.A. and Mst) from the University of Oxford, and I am also a graduate of the International Baccalaureate (I.B.) Diploma program. I've developed a creative approach in my sessions with students that involves applying a student's particular talents and interests (regardless of subject) in the process of language acquisition, along with the simultaneous development of critical skills like close and careful reading, argumentation, written style, and effective communication. I am versed in the requirements and intricacies of a range of national and international diploma programs. When working with students supplementing an academic syllabus, my goal is always to position them to succeed in the assignments and assessments laid out by a primary instructor.

My strongest suit as a teacher is patience and I can connect to children quite easily (maybe because my mum is a kindergarten teacher). I know how hard it is to hold a kid’s attention for long stretches of time. Thus I try to turn the classroom into a playground and make it as interactive as possible. The focus will be to learn vocabulary as opposed to writing complex sentences, depending on your child’s proficiency of the language. My method is super flexible and I adjust it to every student. I usually share my screen and make use of audiovisual material such as books, songs, videos and games. The latter seems to have the most success so far as we cheerfully shout Portuguese vocabulary such as animals, numbers, letters, colors etc.

It comes handy in the ever-developing world that we live in and opens doors to many places, also in the mind. Additionally, bilingualism enhances the cognitive skills. I'm a 3-year Linguistic student, I've achieved the C1+ levels in English, on the CEFR scale. I have 2 years of experience living in London, where I acquired RP (received pronunciation) and 3 years of experience in the International Academia (Amsterdam). My linguistic background gives me the capacity to explain the sounds and various processes of the language, from a perspective many natives do not know. In teaching, I practice the holistic approach. It is my belief that language is for people of every age and education, but I'm aware that everyone deserves a personal approach. It has been an incredible experience! I had the opportunity of visiting beautiful places, discovering so many different cultures and developed myself from a personal and professional point of view.
Since two years, I have been living in Haarlem - a wonderful city close to Amsterdam - and to the coast 🌊 - in the Netherlands. Being a native French speaker with a Bachelor’s in Literature and Philosophy, I can help you learn French in all its forms: oral and written comprehension, speaking and writing. I have already given classes to many pupils (6 in total) so I have a good experience of giving classes. I am also flexible, so I can adapt to your needs and to your schedule. Having obtained a Bachelor’s in Literature and Philosophy, I can also teach students how to analyse literary and philosophical texts in both English and French.
