My name is Valérie. As a native speaker of French and Dutch and graduated as an interpreter of French / Dutch I have given with great pleasure French language courses for years to all different kinds of students. The lessons are given in French and mainly focused on speaking the language. They are therefore practically oriented. The lessons are tailor-made because I follow the wishes and goals of the students during the first lesson. I think it is important that the student experiences pleasure in learning the language, it is and stays a way of communication!

In the citizenship exam course, students learn about history, geography and basic vocabulary which are the contents of the exam. They learn how to respond to basic questions. As an Expat I know how tough it is to learn a new language, especially the Dutch language with its tough pronunciations and sentence structures. Being an Expat I understand much better what the challenges are that other Expats needs to go through to learn Dutch I am specialized in preparing Expats and other immigrants for the Basic Civil Integration Examination (Basisexamen Inburgering). I will help students for beginners-lower-intermediate level. After every lesson I will give you homework for the next lesson. I use several methods which are specially conceived to teach Dutch to people who have a different mother tongue. I really like to use methods out of the ordinary like role games or methods with which you learn while playing. All these adapted to the student's situation of course. As I learned myself a couple of other languages, it is easy for me to detect difficulties a student can encounter and adapt the way of learning. I can teach in English, French, German and Russian.
