Violin lessons for beginners to advanced, & music theory lessons.
Private lessons for beginners to advanced level of violin playing. All ages are welcome. I am a professionally trained teacher and violinist for almost two decades. My lessons are given in English, Spanish and (basic) Dutch.
My teaching method is variable depending on the students' needs, but the goal is shared: to make a great musician and qualified violinist out of the pupil. I work on both technical and musical aspects from a (very) consciously prepared healthy and enjoyable perspective. Particular emphasis on having fun with the little ones!
I pay special attention to creating a personalized education and experience for every one of my students. I also give some additional tools applicable to the violin playing which includes: Introduction to Yoga, Feldenkrais, Alexander Technique and Body & Mind. All the basic theory is taught too.
Occasionally, there are student concerts and collaborations with other teachers. (These may include some teachers from the Sweelinck Academy or the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, and more).
From among the required tools for my lessons are: a violin and a bow, score and books purchases when necessary, and, from time to time, meetings with the parents. On occasion, I use digital tools like phone/tablet apps.
I can teach in various places near or in the center of Amsterdam, or, depending on the need, I can move to pretty much wherever in The Netherlands.
About the homework, I send it to the students on a weekly basis and encourage them to participate on competitions and summer music courses. As always, this is conditional on the pupil's stage.
- I can help you finding an instrument that suits your budget.
- My schedule changes every week according to the lessons and performances, so feel free to contact me to arrange the lessons together.

About Me
During our time together, we are going to talk about what creates magical moments. The essence of what I try to do with music is to transmit something unique so that it will live with the listener. Why do I teach? I teach because I have a strong impulse to share. I have been studying with exceptionally good teachers and have been lucky enough to absorb as much from their mastery. I have been playing the violin since I was practically born, I cannot live without my violin. Now it is the moment in which I share this knowledge I have acquired during so many years.
I am a person who feels comfortable the most when I am surrounded by a highly motivated atmosphere, so I diligently encourage my students to be motivated. I always look forward to learning, constant growth, and having very clear goals. I am very proactive, enthusiastic, and try to be as professional and collaborative as possible.
In my lessons, I work about intonation, vibrato, colors, posture, articulations, different styles of playing, health, intensity versus relaxation, passion, and control, bow speed, phrasing, dynamics... To make the bow and the violin work for you and not the other way around. I want that whatever my students do, make it their own.
For me, it is a privilege to devote myself to what I like the most. To be a pedagogue is almost like being a magician, you teach hidden treasures.

Private Music Lessons for Piano, Violin and Erhu (Chinese violin)As a Cambridge University graduate in the Faculty of Education, I am delighted to have settled down in the Netherlands since September 2019. I started piano at the age of 5, and music has been an important part of my life ever since.
Classically trained as a violinist, I picked up another instrument named Erhu (Chinese violin) and became a professional performer. I am experienced in teaching both children and adults, from different cultural backgrounds.
Also, I have been actively involved in both Western and Chinese orchestra since high school. Thanks to my years of experience in being an orchestra member and soloist, I am also familiar with orchestral music.
As a humble music therapist, I am passionate about music and believe in the power of music. I trust that music is in everybody and I respect every student's individuality and thus tailor my teaching methods to develop my students' full potential.
I started teaching in 2009 and most students put their trust in me when they first decided to learn an instrument. I also enjoy exploring the world of music with students with learning disabilities.
I am proud to say, my students, aged from 5 to 60, are enthusiastic in playing the instrument they have chosen and keen to improve their skills following my advice.
I adopt a flexible approach in teaching - I believe every student is unique and my job is to develop the strengths and improve the weaknesses. I put a lot of emphasis on a solid foundation in my teaching.
For young children, I tend to use a more interactive approach to explain complicated music theories, yet strict in the fundamentals such as posture and rhythm. For adults, I am always happy to discuss with them my lesson plan and choose the best exercises and songs that suit their music interests and needs.
For my students who would like to take exams, I am happy to tailor the lessons based on their progress. I believe in the quality of learning and understanding rather than the number of pieces that they learn. Many beginners and their parents have put their trusts in me and achieved distinction in their first ABRSM exam.
I am fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese, and a native speaker of Cantonese Chinese.
I am happy to travel and travel costs will be added on the top of the standard tuition fee.
*Proof of qualifications avaliable upon requests.

Learn how to play the violin at a beginners level or expand your skills at a higher level with fun and seriousness involvedMy name is Lucas and I am 22 years old. I currently have a grade 8 in violin with the ABRSM curriculum, and have been playing the violin for over 15 years. While learning the violin, I have always been taught in a private manner, with a teacher just to myself so I would know exactly what kind of atmosphere you would need to learn quickly.
The lessons I would provide are for any level of students, from a person that is just beginning or is maybe just interested in playing the violin to a bit more experienced players that are looking to improve their skills.
I will make sure that you always have some work to do between lessons so that you can also improve your skills on your own and show me what you have learnt or practiced in between our lessons.

Violin Lessons in Amsterdam through the Suzuki MethodPrivate Violin lessons in Amsterdam, with a specific focus on the "Suzuki Talent Education".
I teach children from ages 4 up to the conservatory level. My main teaching approach is based on the principles of the Suzuki Method. The lessons are tailored to the specific needs of each student, including game-like exercises and space to be creative and have fun!. I also teach adults who play the violin as a hobby.
What is the Suzuki Method?
Developed by Shin'ichi Suzuki, a Japanese violinist, and pedagogue who was one of the most influential ones of the 20th century. Through a life-long process of experiences, research and evolution, S.Suzuki created the "Mother Tongue Method" based on the observation that all children learn to speak their native language with ease through listening and repetition. He believed that since very young children could master the complexity of their native language, they could also master playing the violin.
The Suzuki Method not only contributes to the development of the musical abilities in children but it is also a great and powerful influence on a child's growth as a human being and their social values, sensitivity, discipline and love for life.
“Musical ability is not an inborn talent but an ability which can be developed. Any child who is properly trained can develop musical ability, just as all children develop the ability to speak their mother tongue. The potential of every child is unlimited." S.Suzuki.

Music lessons: Double bass, bass guitar. Jazz, classical and world-music. Learn how to studyHey there! In my lessons, what you want is the most important. That's why we create together a plan of study with ideas, goals and subjects to reach out our dream to make music (that's also my dream)
Nevertheless, I can give you an overview of the content:
I divide the music theory in two: Technical and Musical.
Technical Theory regarding all the concepts and information related to music, and Musical Theory regarding the ideas and concepts to help us understand and improve the performance of music. Besides that, we look to harmony in a functional, rhythmical and organic way. We learn and approach music from the first lesson, looking at it from different angles (understanding rhythm and essence of a song for example). All this plus a nice diet of assignments and exercises: D
Furthermore, we put especial attention to enjoying music. That means playing but also listening music! For me, that's one of the best ways to learn :)
And of course, we learn as well by making mistakes, so at the end it's all about fun and trying things out;)
Remember: "True success isn't just getting what you want in life - it's liking what you get";)
