Professional German/English classes from an International School Teacher (IB Programme)

This class is for everyone who wants to improve his/her English and German skills. I do not specifically specialise on tutoring for specific exams (I can obviously do that as well) but I want to offer a class that is customised to the students needs. I always try to teach in a fun and engaging manner with real-life context. People learn best by having a positive attitude towards a subject, therefore, I see it as important to establish a positive rapport with my students and spark their interest in the English and German language.

Former teacher. Primary/Secondary school tutoring.
After tutoring for over 6 years in the Amsterdam area, I am very familiar with the various school curriculums. Having moved around quite a bit, I understand the stress students undergo adapting to new schooling systems. I enjoy working privately with students to build their confidence. I previously was a primary school teacher of all subjects (Grades 1&2) for a private international school in Dubai. I am familiar with international school curriculum and challenges faced by students when moving to a new country. I have extensive experience with students of all learning levels. I have been privately tutoring for over 10 years now. English is my first language (I am American). I also have experience tutoring at a higher age (as well as university level). I am an excellent writer, editor, and researcher and work part time in UVA's graduate school in the sociology department. I completed my MSc at UVA and undergraduate at UCLA. Currently, the majority of my students are primary school students who attend the British school or ISA. However, I teach a large number of international school students or older students. I also tutor many students, of various ages, in the Dutch schooling system. I am very comfortable with international school curriculums, however, I also have a good grasp on the Dutch schooling system. While I teach students of various ages and backgrounds, I would consider myself a specialist in primary school students whose second language is English. Please feel free to message me and find out more! **All rates include KVK sales tax **Additional fee charged for students over 20 minutes by bike

Low and Intermediate English lesson. Speak, read and write in fluent english. Learn to write essay type reports.
With English being a world language it has become an integral part of our society, especially in work and study related areas. Taking on English lessons with me will help you prepare for any language obstacles you have had up until now. My teaching methods vary from client to client and depend on their current language skills; writing essay type reports for school, reading and understanding the book all your friends talk about, or just to be able to have a fluent conversation, whatever the problem we can work through it together.

Eyre
English Tutor; Adult English; All primary subjects tutored in English;
After five years of teaching at international schools as the homeroom teacher, I understand how the school subjests are organized and the tests SAT, GED, GRE, and GMAT exams are focused. I hope to create a classroom for the students to explore and discover the world around them. Whether it's science, math, or music, the students will learn through the channel of English. Experiments, discussions and art-work are involved in the class while the subject goals assigned from the school are reached at the same time. English is more than a language skill to master, but a media to all the knowledge the world has to offer.

Kevin
Polyglot specialist with 9 years of experience. German in speed mode. Level A1 to C2. No school teaching.
I offer you a German course that is not like the others. There are two types of courses. Here is an analogy to illustrate their respective approaches: If you travel back and forth by train every day and don't have time to wait long at the platform, imagine that you only have two options: 1) Memorise the timetable. 2) Realise that the train comes every ten minutes and that a train arrives for example at 7:00 a.m. In school pedagogy, in textbooks and in normal lessons, the first approach is used - in the course I am offering you, it is the second approach because it is more economical and faster. My offer is aimed at both pupils and adults who want to learn the German language without time-consuming detours through the madness of fruitless school methods. Learning is easy, but unlearning things that have become bad habits is extremely difficult. This makes it all the more important to learn the right reflexes as early as possible. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced learner, with my customised lessons you will greatly accelerate the learning process while having a positive attitude. I offer German lessons for individuals or groups (2 to 5 people). The methods are based on cognitive science and historical linguistics in particular. My modular programme can be adapted on a case-by-case basis. The converging point of these modules is your independence in spontaneous conversations in real life. What will not be covered in the course: learning lists of verbs; learning lists of nouns with articles; learning words with their translations; flashcards; doing school exercises; following the syllabus of a booklet; imposing the English grammar on the German language. What is particularly important to me: to motivate my student and to give him a learning rhythm; to encourage his creativity; to befriend him with the language; the letters and their sounds; to strengthen the memory by training the phonological loop; to teach blueprints instead of memorising sentences; to explain how the language works in order to make my student independent as quickly as possible; to eliminate common preconceptions, such as that 'der' would mean masculine and 'die' feminine, that the accusative would be a direct complement and the dative an indirect complement, that verbs would be irregular, that declension would be random and therefore would have to be learnt with each verb...; to put practice at the centre and only deal with grammar where necessary. A first lesson will give you a sound idea of my pedagogy.

Elise
Private German lessons by qualified academic
University graduate in German language and literature (Master of Letters in German with specialization in medieval languages and literature) with a solid experience, gives private German lessons for all levels. My lessons are adapted according to the needs of the student. They aim to consolidate concepts, fill gaps, prepare for exams (maturity, compulsory school leaving certificates, entrance exams to gymnasiums and universities, Goethe Zertifikat up to B2). Opportunity to learn the language. For school supports: This is above all long-term work, which implies on my part taking the time to "learn how to learn" in an effective manner: every exercise is explained in detail, which can make its execution easier. slower. Quality takes priority over quantity in order to obtain optimal results over time. Students bring their own course materials (notebooks, books, audio CDs, dictionaries, assessments, etc.). Another important point: in order for my help to be beneficial, it is necessary that the student provides regular personal work between lessons. This essentially involves rereading your notes, repeating exercises similar to those carried out together or even moving forward in learning vocabulary. For conversation classes: The topics are based on interests and/or specific needs for exam preparation. I attach particular importance to pronunciation, fluency and vocabulary. I usually correct at the end of a conversation exercise with detailed feedback, in order to avoid any blockages and to work on fluency. Depending on the level of the students and/or their expectations (exam preparations/assessments/desire for improvement for example), I work on the choice of appropriate words, grammatical accuracy, the ability to formulate more or less complex sentences. For exam preparations: The courses offer to acquire solid tools to learn to write, to comment on literary texts and a methodology to work on oral comprehension. The student must bring their own exam preparation brochure, available in all bookstores. For Goethe Institute model exams, the exam books from Cornlesen are particularly suitable. The other alternative would be to download and print before the start of the course a copy of the Goethe Institute exam available on the institute's website. For the oral comprehension: Work from audio-visual viewings downloaded from the Deutsche Welle site, which offer various recordings adapted to all levels, with a very concrete approach. In the long term, the student acquires ease not only in oral comprehension, but also enriches his basic vocabulary through exercises. I also work on the Goethe Institut oral tests to familiarize myself with speaking. For the work of the written expression: I begin by explaining in the first lesson some methodological tools to acquire writing skills. The student has the opportunity to start writing during the course or do a writing exercise on duty and give it to me to correct (send by email or at the beginning of the next lesson). The corrections are explained in detail. In addition, at the time of booking, the student can send me a draft copy before the lesson so that I can meet his needs even more quickly. Apart from my presence with the student, every lesson involves preparation time before and after the lesson, particularly for the work that I correct. My goal being to design an individualized course, I take the time necessary to write detailed comments on corrected work or advice to ensure maximum success for everyone. In addition, each student can contact me at any time outside of class by email if necessary. Feel free to contact me for more information. :)

Sebastian
Fun and Effective German course with Money-Back-Guarantee!
I am a German native speaker and general language enthusiast. Besides German, I speak English, Swedish, Spanish, French, and Italian. Having learned 6 languages myself, I am 100% convinced that I will successfully teach you German (in a fun and relaxed manner)! I have been teaching since 2018 and am currently one of the most-reviewed teachers on this platform. I encourage you to pause here and have a look at my reviews. I am confident that you too will have a similar view after having had some classes with me. On top of teaching here on Apprentus, I have taught offline group classes for the Volksuniversiteit The Hague (A Volksuniversiteit (litt. folk university) is an institute for non-formal adult education in the Netherlands). I also taught for and underwent training with Berlitz, which is one of, if not THE largest language school in the world, operating in over 70 countries and 500+ locations. I am 33 years old, have an honours degree from Leiden University, The Hague, am calm, encouraging, and, most importantly, PATIENT. My main objective in classes is to make the student feel relaxed and at ease. I encourage you to speak without fear of making mistakes. In fact, I celebrate making mistakes. "Why?", you may ask. Well, making mistakes means that you are leaving your comfort zone. You are trying something that you are not already skilled at. You don't choose the easy path! People who never make mistakes are stagnant. Therefore, making mistakes should be CELEBRATED instead of shunned! So, good on you for mispronouncing "Nachmittag (Afternoon)", or using the wrong grammar when making a sentence! Here, let me help you get it right this time! :) Do you already have German knowledge? No problem! Instead of building the basics, we can design classes that meet your personal needs and preferences. We can write essays together, you can hold presentations about topics of your interests or topics that I provide, we can discuss current events, hold debates, you can write news-paper article summaries, or we deep dive into advanced grammar. Whatever it is that you enjoy and need: We can do it together. All my classes combine speaking, listening & grammar exercises in interaction with me. Unless you're a very advanced student, we will work with learning materials created by some of the best publishers for language learning in Germany. These materials serve as a red thread for our course that introduces new words, grammar, and exercises in a good pace and interesting manner which keeps you engaged and motivated. Furthermore, I show you German food, music, and places. On top of that, I introduce you to the best technological tools (homepages and applications) to boost your language learning and take it to the next level! Another important factor for me is having a personal connection. Unless you prefer to "stick to business", which is fine as well, we typically start our classes by talking about how the weekend or preceding weekdays have been. I don't see my students as a resource to be extracted, but as people for whom I develop a genuine interest. Over the course of time, we both know what is going on in our respective lives and update each other about small or big life events. Having taught many students for multiple years, I can gladly say that I have made real friends thanks to our classes, some of whom I even have met in real life. I am extremely confident that you very soon will have the same success that I have had in learning languages! So what are you waiting for? Get in touch now to book a first lesson in which we can get to know each other so that I can learn about you, your needs, and your wishes, which will allow us to design the optimal course for you. See you soon! Bis bald! Sebastian
