About Me

My name is Mak, Chilean photographer, visual artist, filmmaker and photography teacher. I’ve worked for the past 12 years in the area of documentary photography, capturing artists, street scenery and personal projects, where the portrait and surrounding space play a fundamental role and capture the soul of the subject. As a teacher for 7 years, I taught documentary photography and developed portrait phototherapy in 5 children jail centers of `Sename ́ (state institution concerning the protection of minors) and 3 colleges in the vulnerable sector in Santiago to Chile.
I’m also a visual and drawing artist for 4 years now. For my plastic art, I like to investigate in recycle art and re-use words as a reflection for the ambient. My style fluctuates between pop art, expressionist and graphic influences using pallets of pastel, fluor, black and white colors. I like to works with different materials, such as paper, cloth, murals, cups, stones, and recycled items.
One of my specializations is food photography. Creating atmosphere, integrating color and styling in the composition of the image. Do you own a restaurant? A coffee? Or you love food? You want to take good pictures of your new dishes? This is a super opportunity!
I teach how to work natural light, walk the streets, compose the image from the spontaneous, portrait and working improvisation. Classes of groups of 3 people to generate an atmosphere of collaboration and support. We will create together differents topics to work.

ARTS - FROM CLASSICAL DRAWING ALL THROUGH MATERIALITY
The practical insight has been developed throughout enduring studies from 2 different institutional perspectives inspired the urge to convey this to the art enthusiasts of all levels and age. Each age is special within the education similarly all targets pointed from the creative spirits creating thus various anticipations. Those anticipations are the basis of each class. My classes are designed through collaborations when it comes to experimentations or intersected fields and mediums, which is an option and pertinent characteristic of approach. However the one who lasts for foundation and aspires him/her the concept of taking it further to possible academic preparation will grab charcoals, a spoke, the required papers, instal from simple to complex still life compositions and set forth the journey of academic drawing theory. And then, of course, start with colour, of both acrylic and oil medium. Pre-school children, children and teenagers are highly encouraged to experiment with different materials and techniques and preferably through themes - selected by me or the student's likings as well. Needless to say that suchlike classes do not necessarily mean free-time activity, the academic material is intentionally or not(unconsciously) always a present element of my instructive performance. Therefore, the game becomes teaching/learning relation, whilst teaching and learning turn into a recreational joyful moment for all participants. The aforementioned forms of classes are applicable to all ages.
