Sonic Pi - programming and Music Orchestratio. as an art form
## Code the Beat: Make Music by Typing, Not Clicking
Ever wonder what it'd be like to *build* music from the ground up, not just play it? Forget clicking through menus; imagine writing code that turns into sound. That's the magic of Sonic Pi.
It started as a way to get kids excited about coding, but it's become a playground for anyone who wants to mess with music in a totally different way. You type instructions, and boom—beats, melodies, weird soundscapes, whatever you can dream up.
Here's the cool part: you're not stuck with a pre-made track. You change the code *while it's playing*. Want to speed it up? Tweak the pitch? Throw in a crazy synth line? Just type it, and it happens. It's like playing an instrument made of code.
You don't need to be a coding whiz or a music theory genius to get started. Sonic Pi's pretty friendly, and there are plenty of people online sharing tips and tricks. Plus, there are classes popping up everywhere that'll walk you through the basics.
People are using it for all sorts of music, from electronic dance stuff to ambient soundscapes and even those retro video game sounds. It's not just about making tunes; it's about experimenting, trying things out, seeing what happens when you push a few buttons and type a few lines.
What really makes Sonic Pi special is the community. You'll find people swapping code, sharing sounds, and even throwing "algoraves" where they code music live. It's a place where you can learn, create, and connect with others who are just as curious about the weird and wonderful world of coding music.
So, if you're looking for a way to get creative, try something new, and maybe even make some music that nobody's ever heard before, give Sonic Pi a shot. You might just surprise yourself.

In the bustling symphony of modern life, finding moments of genuine stillness can feel like an elusive pursuit. Yet, within the realm of sound itself, a powerful avenue for cultivating inner peace and insight meditation exists. Music, often associated with vibrant expression and emotional catharsis, can also serve as a profound tool for introspection and mindful awareness.
The practice of insight meditation, or Vipassana, emphasizes the development of clear awareness of present moment experience. This cultivation of mindful attention allows us to observe the arising and passing of thoughts, emotions, and sensations without judgment. While traditionally focused on silent observation, the integration of sound, particularly through meditative improv, offers a unique and accessible pathway to this state of mindful presence.
Meditative improv, in this context, transcends the conventional notions of musical performance. It's not about achieving technical perfection or adhering to rigid structures. Instead, it's about engaging with sound in a spirit of open exploration and gentle curiosity. The act of creating and listening to simple, repetitive melodies, resonant tones, or organic rhythms becomes a form of active meditation.
The process begins with a conscious shift in attention. Rather than focusing on external goals or expectations, the practitioner directs their awareness inward, towards the subtle nuances of sound. Each tone, each vibration, becomes an object of mindful observation. The arising and passing of these sonic sensations serve as anchors to the present moment, grounding the practitioner in the immediacy of their experience.
This mindful engagement with sound facilitates the development of key aspects of insight meditation. By observing the impermanent nature of sound, we begin to recognize the ephemeral quality of all phenomena. The arising and passing of each note mirrors the transient nature of our thoughts and emotions, fostering a deeper understanding of impermanence.
Furthermore, the act of listening deeply cultivates a heightened awareness of sensory experience. The subtle variations in pitch, timbre, and rhythm become objects of sustained attention, sharpening our ability to perceive the subtle nuances of our inner and outer worlds. This heightened sensory awareness extends beyond the realm of sound, enhancing our capacity to perceive the richness of our present moment experience.
Meditative improv also encourages a spirit of non-judgmental observation. As practitioners explore the realm of sound, they learn to relinquish the tendency to evaluate or criticize their creations. There are no "wrong" notes, only moments of sonic exploration. This cultivation of non-judgmental awareness extends beyond the musical practice, fostering a more accepting and compassionate relationship with ourselves and others.
In essence, music, when approached with a spirit of mindful awareness, becomes a powerful tool for cultivating insight meditation. It provides a tangible and accessible pathway to the present moment, fostering a deeper understanding of impermanence, sensory awareness, and non-judgmental observation. By embracing the sound of stillness, we can discover a profound sense of inner peace and clarity.

Double bass, electric bass and composition lessonsHello
I'm a professional bass player living in Amsterdam. I have a passion for teaching and passing on some of the knowledge that I have acquired during my studies at several schools and heard from the musicians I look up to. I've done my bachelor degree at The Royal Academy of Music in Denmark, and I finished my Masters at Conservatorium van Amsterdam in 2024.
I teach double bass, electric bass and composition.
Musically I try to be as open as I can. For me it doesn't matter if it's free jazz, traditional jazz, pop or metal as long as it feels good.
I'm a leader of my own group where we combine jazz and indie rock. we will release our debut album this fall.
I'm also a sideman in several groups.
As for composition I have experience with composing for regular jazz groups, big band, string quartet and irregular constellations such as my band with three guitars and three horns.
Some thoughts about teaching:
I believe that the most important thing when teaching is having a good relation to one another and generally just having a good time. If we don't enjoy the process we don't learn.
You should feel comfortable saying how you feel and what you want to learn/don't want to learn. With that transparency I will be able to customize the teaching and balance the curriculum so that I meet your needs while pushing you into unknown territory.
If you're reading this I'm happy that you took your time to read through it all, and hopefully we'll get to meet and talk about music!

Cello, Composition and Music Theory lessons in AmsterdamHello there!
My name is Antek and i'm a cellist and composer who graduated from Conservatorium van Amsterdam. As a cellist I've had the pleasure and honour of collaborating with renowned artists such as Hans Zimmer, being part of his 2022 European Tour Orchestra, touring over 15 countries and playing in locations such as London's O2 Arena or Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam. I am now mainly active as a performer of contemporary/experimental music, as well as classical music, freelancing in various orchestras in the Netherlands, having played in venues such as Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ, Concertgebouw or TivoliVredenburg. I offer cello lessons, regardless of the level - whether you are a curious beginner or more advanced player, i'm happy to collaborate and share my knowledge and experience with you, as well as inspire your creativity regarding both playing the right notes, and making artistic choices.
I can also help you prepare for conservatory entrance exams by providing Solfege, Ear-training and General Music Theory lessons.
As a composer, I'm currently pursuing a degree at Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp. I can help you work on your ideas, and how to write them down, to sound exactly how you want them to sound. That includes tutorials on engraving rules, orchestration, working in DAWs (Ableton) and using sheet music software (Sibelius, MuseScore), as well as building your craft and workflow. I'm experienced in writing both instrumental and electronic music, as well as performance art, live electronics and multidisciplinary projects. I have also collaborated with institutions like National Polish Radio or CelloWercken Festival Zutphen.
I hope to hear back from you soon and I'm looking forward to start working on your musical journey!
Peace and Love

Creative guitar lessons for beginners and intermediateHey peeps!
I love to give guitar lessons in a relaxed mood that will not put pressure on you, only giving you feedbacks that will improve your practice. The first lessons will generally consist of covering the basics by learning simple songs. Depending on how it goes, we will go straight into learning songs that you want to play, where you will learn even more!
I can teach you how to play across several appointments during the week so you'll learn faster and enjoy playing straight from the beginning :)

Art & Creativity: From basic skills to elaborating narrativesI am a multidisciplinary artist and designer with fifteen years of experience. I studied art and architecture at the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and the Columbia University in New York. I teach painting, drawing, digital image and creativity. This class is ideal for beginners but also intermediate students who want to develop their own style.
For my personal projects, I work in a wide range of mediums, from drawing, painting and printmaking to digital image and 3D Printing. When teaching, I prefer to first focus on free-hand drawing and painting as this allows for greater spontaneity regardless of the student's technical level. We later explore other methods based on the student's individual interests. I like to teach children and adults via mini projects involving art history references and help them develop narratives around their work. I deeply believe in people's creative potential and in my classes will help you channel your own voice.

Play only what you like! - Piano lessons for all levels and all stylesMusic is Play! and everyone is it's own game.
Read, understand and make only the music you like. I think if it isn't fun, it can't be music:)
I studied a classical piano bachelor, and later a jazz master and a live electronics master. In the meantime, I have been teaching music. It's longer than 9 years now!
Most of my students learn piano. With the starter ones, I use my own system to equally help them grow all the needed skills: body consciousness (to avoid lesions or bad habits), music theory (including writing and reading) and improvisation.
Usually most songs are made of melody, chords and rhythm. From there, I can help you understand how a song works, how is it written, how does it translate to the piano... and voilá! You'll know the song by heart, and will be able to play it a bit different every time, because you won't be following a set of pre-imposed instructions. You will understand how a small system (a song) works.
This way of learning can be applied to any song, from any century or style. Understanding is key! Play Chopin, write rock songs, play Monk, Bill Evans, the Beatles, make a lo-fi beat, play Beethoven, play the Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and Star Wars, play video game music, play salsa! bachata and make people dance, laugh or cry.
Music is very powerful!
PD: I have also experience imparting electronic music lessons in Ableton Live and Max MSP, which is now a very important part of my professional practice. In case you are interested, it is also possible to mix the two worlds and create a any kind of path between piano, synths, beats and home studio techniques.
Ask me anything, I'll tell you how I could help!

Creative portfolio development, for Pre art school adults or those who want to develop a design career. Acquaintance with multi-materials.If you are reading this, it's not too late...you are in good hands:)
Especially if you 're (going to prepare/ preparing) a portfolio for art/design school application.
"Learning by making"
From drawing, oil painting to creative thinking training through materiality.
Each age is special and different visual styles can be worked upon and the outcomes can often be surprisingly authentic. Those anticipations are the basis of each class. My classes are designed through collaborations when it comes to experimentations or intersected fields and mediums, which is an option and pertinent characteristic of approach.
Classes are applicable to students who are 16+ of all levels .
Personal Portfolio Class:
If you are considering applying for art school or design school, you might want to prepare yourself and build a convincing portfolio, perhaps improve your presentation skill or even some confidence boost for interviews.
We will first explore what talents you already have and those you will want/need to have, the goal is to help you develop your creativity and curiosity as well as your artistic skills and most importantly find out your inner talent for a direction that will suit you, whether in education or self-development. And we will do a live rehearsal for your interview for the best presentation result and confidence boost. Overall, It'll help you cultivate the soft and hard skills you need to be more confident setting and resetting expectations, strengthening relationships, and taking your projects across the finish line without any cold sweat.
For teenagers: are highly encouraged to experiment with different materials and techniques and preferably through themes - selected by me or the student's likings as well. We will also look at specific Artists and Painters, as well as specific Art History periods, and the kids will then be encouraged to play around and recreate their own version of the Artist or period. Needless to say that class do not necessarily mean free-time activity, the academic material is intentionally or not(unconsciously) always a present element of my instructive performance. Therefore, the game becomes a teaching/learning relation, whilst teaching and learning turn into a recreational joyful moment for all participants.

Arduino/PCB/electronics/mechanical project mentoringDo you wish you could build things with electronics and mechanical components? Maybe your house needs a web-connected doorbell, or you want to publish your air quality measurements to the web. Or maybe you're already experienced and you have an automatic cat flap opener or motion-triggered foam dart shooter?
Whatever your home electronics/mechatronics project, I can help you get started, improve, or complete it. I have extensive professional experience designing electronic circuits, PCBs, and the software to control them, and I've tutored privately for years as well.
The way I work is to help you solve your most pressing and confusing issues during our class, then give you a short lesson to help you understand better what to do next time, and then leave you with some homework tasks you can do in your own time to progress your project - this saves you money and gives you a better competency result!
I have a 3D printer, a metalworking shop, and all the benchtop tools we might need to develop your projects, as well as some generic arduinos, breadboards, and passive components - all you need to provide is (some of) the specific materials for your project.
