Ableton Live - Getting your ideas down into a workable format to create a full working track! No prior knowledge needed!

I specialise in making music with the computer when there isn't a whole bunch of theory knowledge there. I can teach you to quickly and efficiently make that tune in your head into a reality, then turn that into a full track.

If you have tried a few tutorials or courses and they didn't fit with you because of all the engineering jargon and theory based approach, this course is for you! I learnt to make music because I was hearing all these songs in my head but wasn't good enough at any instrument to materialise them. Ableton allowed me to hash through ideas, jam with them, then finally turn them into a full working track. I have also worked as a live and studio sound engineer so I do have the theoretical knowledge but can communicate in the language of learners from all different levels.

I think there are a lot of people that just need to express what they have in there head and Ableton is by far the best program for that. It is very intuitive, "jammable" and so much fun!

For me Ableton is my instrument but I also play the drums, piano and bass.

About Me

Hi,

I have been using Ableton and other DAW's for about 9 years. I taught myself so I have a unique way of working and teaching. I can teach from the non-theoretical angle which I find helps a lot of people that just want to make music and cut out the theory (for now).

Education

I have a Diploma in Sound Engineering although this was mainly to help me get to learn Pro Tools and get me into the live audio industry. My Ableton Live learnings came from myself.

Experience / Qualifications

- Used Ableton to make music in a band for 8 years
- Have knowledge in Pro tools and Logic
- Worked as a sound/stage tech for 2 years

Great first lesson. Patrick taught me patiently the first tools of Ableton. He communicates well, and did exactly what he offers, so top teacher!

Saxophone and Composition lessons in the Amsterdam area
During my almost 7 years of experience teaching privately, I have realized that there are many types of students and that whatever the discipline, as a teacher, you have to adapt and personalize teaching for each person. This is the method that I apply to my private saxophone and composition classes. With more than 12 years of experience studying and practicing music, with a bachelor's degree in classical composition and pursuing a master's degree in jazz saxophone, my classes are oriented to both languages, reviewing technique, interpretation, examples, sound, language, reading, styles, and methods of practicing both the instrument and the composition. I’ve designed these lessons for you to learn as much as possible about these super interesting disciplines, step by step, and in a practical way.

Play only what you like! - Piano lessons for all levels and all styles
Music is Play! and everyone is it's own game. Read, understand and make only the music you like. I think if it isn't fun, it can't be music:) I studied a classical piano bachelor, and later a jazz master and a live electronics master. In the meantime, I have been teaching music. It's longer than 9 years now! Most of my students learn piano. With the starter ones, I use my own system to equally help them grow all the needed skills: body consciousness (to avoid lesions or bad habits), music theory (including writing and reading) and improvisation. Usually most songs are made of melody, chords and rhythm. From there, I can help you understand how a song works, how is it written, how does it translate to the piano... and voilá! You'll know the song by heart, and will be able to play it a bit different every time, because you won't be following a set of pre-imposed instructions. You will understand how a small system (a song) works. This way of learning can be applied to any song, from any century or style. Understanding is key! Play Chopin, write rock songs, play Monk, Bill Evans, the Beatles, make a lo-fi beat, play Beethoven, play the Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and Star Wars, play video game music, play salsa! bachata and make people dance, laugh or cry. Music is very powerful! PD: I have also experience imparting electronic music lessons in Ableton Live and Max MSP, which is now a very important part of my professional practice. In case you are interested, it is also possible to mix the two worlds and create a any kind of path between piano, synths, beats and home studio techniques. Ask me anything, I'll tell you how I could help!

Learn how to produce your own music, from composing to mixing, mastering and distributing.
This class is for you if you are a producer who needs help with the various production stages. I mainly work in Ableton Live and Pro Tools, but thanks to remote control tool Team Viewer, I can show my techniques directly on your DAW of choice(Logic Pro,Waveform Tracktion). Working with ListenTo from Audiomovers, I can deliver high quality sound directly from my DAW During the latest years I developed useful standardized methods of work but the course is tailored to your needs and your goals no matter if you are an absolute beginner or more experienced in the field and so will be the PDFs I will supply after every class. Most of the techniques I will show you can be applied to many genres.

Music production, beat making, mixing and DAW classes with Ableton Live
Music production is one thing that refers to a lot of different things as it's in a sort of middle ground between something purely musical as composition, instrumentation or arraging and the technical aspect, like mixing, mastering or using a daw. In this classes we can focus on what you want to do or learn regarding those topics, or the ones that I think would help you best, putting an emphasis on how you can apply the information that you gain in your own way or imitating certain aspects of a specific genre, finishing songs, mixing them or just to loose the fear of making music and became more relaxed in a creative sense and have fun with it.

As a teacher, I strive to develop students to become inspired by music and to always seek a deeper understanding and appreciate of music. I am open to teaching any student so long as they can hold an instrument comfortably!

Saba
Jazz Piano, Improvisation, Comping, Harmony, Rhythm
I am a graduate of Conservatorium van Amsterdam in Jazz Piano. I have substantial experience in teaching beginners how to start improvising. You can trust me, I will push you and make you learn it. Improvisation can be learned if the right tools are offered to the beginner. I know what methodology works for upbringing a beginner to start improvising, swinging, and composing a tune. I can guide you through all the scales that jazz musicians use, common chord harmonies used by Bud Powell, Mccoy Tyner, and Herbie Hancock - and most importantly ideas behind them; or you might think you know scales and can't use them in a creative way, I will teach you how to make it a logical language. Swing is the most important element in improvising in a jazz context, and I will guide you on how to practice getting the swing feel, that drives jazz music. Generally, I give lots of assignments, and papers, so it would be nice if the student knew how to read sheet music. If you are a beginner or intermediate who needs a push to get to know common, complex improvisational, compositional, and harmonical ideas, contact me. If you are at an intermediate/advanced level, our lessons might be even more adventurous, and pushy. I will share everything I know. Looking forward to meeting you :)) Feel free to contact me for inquiries.
