Trusted teacher: Hello, My name is Emi, and I’m a Japanese language tutor based in Tokyo. While working in an office, I also teach Japanese. I majored in economics at university and later spent over 20 years working in back-office roles at housing manufacturers, consulting firms, and nonprofit organizations. In 2005, I entered an art university, completed a master’s program in art studies while working, and am now writing my doctoral dissertation. I also work as a part-time lecturer, supporting students in their studies and guiding them in essay writing. About My Lessons The main goal of my lessons is to help you communicate smoothly and effectively with Japanese speakers. To achieve this, we focus on: • Expressing your thoughts clearly (speaking/writing) • Understanding what others are saying or writing (listening/reading) Customized Lessons I tailor each lesson to suit your goals, level, and interests. In our first lesson, I’ll ask you about your objectives and specific needs, so we can design a program just for you. Lessons are conducted primarily in Japanese, but I can assist in English if needed. I also have a basic understanding of Spanish, so feel free to relax and enjoy the lessons! Examples of Lessons I Offer • Practical conversation practice using natural Japanese (without textbooks) • Practice with materials like GENKI etc. • Reading news articles or short stories written in Japanese together Specialized Japanese Lessons • Japanese for the Workplace: Writing emails, communicating with colleagues and supervisors, and understanding Japanese business culture • Academic Japanese: Reading academic texts, writing reports and theses, and using language suitable for scholarly discussions (especially in fields such as art, culture, literature, society, and philosophy) My Approach to Japanese Learning My own experience of learning English and Spanish has helped me understand the depth of Japanese expressions and culture. Japanese reflects unique cultural values and ways of thinking, which often makes it difficult to translate directly. By learning about the cultural and contextual background of Japanese expressions, you’ll not only improve your skills but also use the language more naturally and effectively. That’s why in my lessons, I aim to share not only the language itself but also the cultural nuances behind it. I believe this approach can make your communication in Japanese more enjoyable and meaningful. Thank you for reading. I’m here to support your Japanese learning journey and to help you explore the language and culture with confidence and joy. If you’re interested in my lessons, feel free to get in touch!

Trusted teacher: As a violin teacher, my goal is to create a positive learning environment while cultivating the student’s love for music. I believe in developing music-reading as well as ear-training skills in my student’s music education. I work hard to tailor each lesson to meet the individual student’s musical goals, level and learning style. I have experience teaching students from age 3 to adult and from absolute beginner to college-level students. As a conservatory trained violinist, I teach a solid foundation in violin technique, theory and repertoire. I currently maintain a private violin studio in Yokohama and one in my home in Kawasaki. I can teach in both English and Japanese. Learning to play the violin is a lifelong process. Music can lead us to new opportunities, meet interesting people and travel to unique places. Trusted teacher: Russian is one of the most spoken languages in the world. It is an official language of Russian, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. It is spoken in all other post-soviet countries, and also in Israel, the Balkans and the U.S. As Russia has been in the process of positioning itself as a major economic force, including the Russian language in CV would definitely give a good impression to employers. Many companies today are looking for qualified international workers who master Russian. Apart from that, being able to speak the Russian language will allow you to understand Russians and their culture, something which could never happen through cultural exchanges. You would develop a new view of Russian literature, music, and art. Why choose me as a tutor? - I am a native Russian speaker with experience in teaching the Russian language to non-Russians. - I have been teaching Russian for years to beginners and advanced learners. My English and Japanese are fluent, so in our lessons, I will explain everything to you in a very understandable and easy way. - I have been giving private lessons and teaching in classrooms. I have worked with children and adults. - I ensure that you would enjoy my classes because I always try to make the learning process fun and relaxed. Our lessons will always be well organized and well structured. -All the lessons are tailored exactly to your individual needs to help you succeed. - I will help you to achieve the necessary level of communication in the shortest possible time since I also have been learning foreign languages and know the secret for learning them quickly. You will finally begin to speak fluently in Russian. Even if you have not learned the language before, by the end of the course you will be able to speak Russian, learn all the grammar basics, understand native Russian speakers, read and write in Russian. I look forward to meeting you!

Taiko Drumming is both a traditional instrument and an innovative medium for making contemporary music. I am Eva, a professional Taiko Drummer, and I have playing the Taiko drums for 30 years. Lessons will be taught online on weekdays and on-site in central Tokyo on weekends, in groups. Private lessons can be arranged upon request. Here is my profile: Born in Tokyo, Japan, Eva was raised by a family of scholars and artists with mixed German and Japanese heritage. From a young age, she learned how to play piano after her father introduced her to classical music, while she simultaneously learned Taiko after her mother introduced her to the Japanese arts. After graduating from the International School of the Sacred Heart in Tokyo, Japan, she attended Cornell University in New York, USA, where she earned a B.A. in Philosophy. While attending Cornell, she joined the Cornell University Percussion Ensemble. The following year, she co-founded the Taiko drumming student organization called Cornell Taiko (YAMATAI) and she was the lead drummer and Musical Director. After graduating from Cornell at the young age of 22, she returned to Japan and started performing professionally. She started her solo career a year later. Eva is also trained in Japanese folk dance (with a focus on male styles) and has a passion for street dance and locking. She joined an Awa dance team affiliated with the prestigious Koenji Awa Dance Association and made her way to become one of the top female dancers in Japan. Today, she brings Japanese taiko drumming and song to a brand new context of pop music and also performs with many distinguished artists, musicians, dancers, and Taiko drummers across multiple genres. Eva does not only perform using taiko, she also uses a number of other instruments that have a distinct flavor of the Japanese environment including Koto (Japanese Harp), Voice, and Piano. Eva also works in the field of education and teaches taiko drumming workshops to both children and adults and is also involved in humanitarian efforts such as raising awareness for the disabled. Her music, dynamic performances, and selfless spirit continue to inspire not only her many fans but all who witness her performances all over the world. In 2023, her original music was published by Harper Collins Publisher and she was also the cover image of their music textbook. In 2024, her original music was utilized by Cambridge International Curriculum, used in over 160 countries and 10,000 schools, which sets a global standard for education, and is recognized by universities and employers worldwide.

French/English/Spanish Tutoring any level available (Tokyo)
Eva
Eva is an incredible teacher. She is patient, detailed, and explain things properly. She also speaks English fluently which gives me the advantage of allowing her to explain grammatical points to me in detail, something that works extremely well with the way my mind works. I cannot stress this enough. I understand that many French teachers speak limited English, but if you are someone that understands English and would prefer to have your teacher explain things, then Eva is definitely the teacher for you.

Econometrics & Statistics - For University & School Students. SAT, IB, A-Levels, University Courses (Amsterdam)
Nick
Nick's approach is patient and thorough, informative and imaginative as well. He always comes up with his own examples in order to test my knowledge on a given exercise and helps me get to the answer at my own pace, rather than handing it to me. He doesn't use a one-size-fits-all method, but rather tailors his lesson in order to get out my full potential, even in a field I find difficult. He makes himself available for additional questions and is overall great to work with!

Native Spanish and English B2 teacher. Spanish and English private classes (Tokyo)
Alejandra
Super friendly and helpful, and really good at explaining nuance and differences in word use and meaning. I booked Alejandra for a Spanish lesson but as a native speaker of English I can say her English level and pronunciation is native level, highly recommended for either Spanish or English lessons!
