Trusted teacher: In the IGCSE and CIE (AS/A Level) Biology and Chemistry curricula, Organic Chemistry is a major topic, particularly within Chemistry. Here's a breakdown of what is covered at each level: --- IGCSE Chemistry (Cambridge - 0620/0971) In IGCSE, Organic Chemistry focuses on the fundamentals of carbon compounds and their reactions. Key areas include: 1. Introduction to Organic Chemistry - Definition: Organic chemistry is the study of carbon-based compounds. - Hydrocarbons: Compounds made up of carbon and hydrogen only. 2. Types of Hydrocarbons - Alkanes: - General formula: CnH2n+2 - Properties: Saturated hydrocarbons (single bonds). - Combustion and substitution reactions. - Alkenes: - General formula: CnH2n - Properties: Unsaturated hydrocarbons (double bonds). - Addition reactions (e.g., with bromine water as a test for alkenes). 3. Functional Groups and Homologous Series - Alcohols: General formula CnH2n+1OH (e.g., ethanol). - Properties and combustion. - Carboxylic Acids: General formula CnH2n+1COOH(e.g., ethanoic acid). - Weak acids, their reactions, and uses. 4. Polymers - Addition Polymerization: Formation of polymers from alkenes (e.g., poly(ethene), poly(propene)). - Natural and Synthetic Polymers: Proteins, nylon, and plastics. - Environmental Issues: Problems with non-biodegradable plastics. --- CIE AS and A Level Chemistry (9701) At the AS/A Level, Organic Chemistry is studied in greater depth, with emphasis on structure, reactions, and mechanisms. Key topics include: 1. Structure and Bonding in Organic Compounds - Structural, displayed, and skeletal formulas. - somerism: - Structural isomers. - Stereoisomerism: cis-trans(E/Z) isomerism. 2. Functional Groups and Reactions - Alkanes: Combustion and free radical substitution reactions. - Alkenes: Addition reactions (e.g., hydrogenation, halogenation, hydration). - Alcohols: Preparation (hydration of ethene) and oxidation (to aldehydes, ketones, or carboxylic acids). - Halogenoalkanes: Nucleophilic substitution reactions. - Carboxylic Acids: Reactions (e.g., neutralization, esterification). - Esters: Formation and hydrolysis. 3. Mechanisms of Reactions - Free radical substitution (e.g., in alkanes). - Electrophilic addition (e.g., in alkenes). - Nucleophilic substitution (e.g., in halogenoalkanes). 4. Polymers and Biochemistry - Addition and condensation polymers. - Structure of proteins and DNA. 5. Organic Synthesis - Pathways for converting one functional group to another. - Use of reagents, conditions, and mechanisms in synthesis. Trusted teacher: 🌷 Yoga with Stephanie 🌷 For strength, stillness, and everything in between. Hi, I’m Stephanie — a certified Yin and Vinyasa Yoga Instructor offering personalised, online private sessions for individuals who crave more than just movement. Whether you're seeking to unwind after long days, release tension in the body, enhance mobility, or reconnect with your inner calm — you're in the right place. Flexible Scheduling Sessions can be booked weekly or as needed. Please reserve your space at least 24 hours ahead so I can prepare your custom practice. 🌸 Let’s talk feminine energy 🌸 Yin is the embodiment of feminine energy — slow, intuitive, fluid, and deeply restorative. It teaches us to receive. To feel. To soften. In a world that often pushes us to go faster, do more, and always be ‘on,’ Yin invites us back to being. This is where we reconnect with our essence — the part of us that delights in stillness, savors the moment, and feels life deeply. Yin helps us fall in love with simply being alive. With noticing the small things. It’s not about chasing — it’s about attracting. It’s about surrendering to the rhythm of the breath, the wisdom of the body, and the whisper of the present moment. Whether you identify as masculine or feminine — we all carry both energies within. Yin was actually designed for male martial artists by Paulie Zink to help balance excess yang energy. So for men, this is a powerful way to slow down, ground yourself, and reconnect with clarity. For women, especially those constantly in ‘go’ mode, Yin is a healing return to your natural flow. It can transform the way you move through the world — with softness, magnetism, and inner peace. ☀️ Flow with Vinyasa ☀️ If Yin is the moon, Vinyasa is the sun. Vinyasa yoga is a powerful practice that links breath with movement, helping you build flexibility, balance, and body awareness while releasing mental clutter. It's energising, detoxifying, and grounding all at once. But it’s not just flowy vibes — Vinyasa works deeply into your muscles. With creative sequences and full-body movement, it strengthens your core, stretches tight areas, tones your limbs, and builds endurance. Every class is a gentle workout and a moving meditation wrapped in one. Whether you're looking to break a sweat or melt into your breath, this practice keeps your body strong, lean, and balanced — and your mind clear and centered. 💫 You don’t have to choose between softness and strength. You were made to hold both. See you on the mat ✨🌷

Trusted teacher: 💜 Salvē quīcumque haec legis et linguam Latīnam discere cupis! 💜 Greetings to you, dear reader of these lines! Some say that I have travelled here from Ancient Rome to help bring the Latin language back to life. "But", you say, "Latin is dead and has been for 1.5 millenia!" If that's what you think, let me change your mind! =) I offer classes for all levels and topics, including but not limited to: ◈ Latin for complete beginners taught through guided reading and discussion, with a minimum of translation. You will be using the language to learn the language from the beginning; ◈ Latin for those who have studied grammar, but still don't know the language itself; ◈ Latin for those ready to approach non-adapted literature; ◈ Latin for those who can already read, but want to learn to speak and use the language actively; ◈ Latin for those who want to understand poetry (from Virgil and Plautus right up to modern Latin poets) and quantitative metrics intuitively, in the same way as they were understood by the Romans themselves; ◈ Latin for researchers, historians and anyone working with Latin texts and primary sources or writing academic papers; ◈ Latin for linguists: I have deep theoretical and practical knowledge of the phonetics and phonology of Latin as well as Latin historical linguistics. ◈ Latin for those not ready to commit, but interested in learning the Reconstructed Classical Pronunciation. Or the traditional Italian (aka Ecclesiastical), or the Germanic-Slavic, or even the Middle French pronunciation - whatever takes your fancy :-) ◈ conversational Latin and composition practice. 💡 About me and my lessons: I've long been part of the international community of Latin speakers, have produced videos in Latin and resources for learning it, as well co-authoring a graded poetry reader "Erictho: Tartarorum Terror" aimed at students who wish to transition away from reading adapted texts and tackle authentic poetry without the help of dictionaries or translation. Thanks to my deep interest in phonetics and phonology, I have put major emphasis on researching, modelling and teaching the sounds and rhythms of Republican Latin speech in order to make Latin poetry and prose sound the way the authors intended. I teach Latin through Latin using the singular series "Lingua Latina Per Se Illustrata" as well as various adapted and authentic texts. The goal of my lessons is simple: holistic acquisition of the language in order to allow you, the learner, to read Latin fluently, understand it at a deep level, and be able to communicate in it should the opportunity arise. Except at early stages, grammar instruction will also take place in Latin. 𓆩♡𓆪

Trusted teacher: High quality Spanish classes. Experienced teacher. My name is Luciano and I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I have been teaching Spanish for more than 15 years and I have worked in several institutes and embassies as a teacher and cultural bridge. I am currently living in Berlin where I am developing a personal project and working as a teacher online and in face-to-face classes. Normally I am interested in generating a creative bond with my students and that is why I work with many of them for relatively long periods of time. In the classes I am interested in having a solid grammar structure but the emphasis is on conversation. In this way I feel that a rich and interesting interaction is generated where, honestly, I myself learn from my students‘ experiences and points of view. I am convinced, as a language learner myself, that learning a language is not simply a tool for communication. I feel that to learn another language is to open oneself to another code or way of thinking and perceiving the world. For example, Romance languages (Spanish, Italian, French, etc.) think and feel the world in a different way than Germanic languages (English, German, etc.) I am fascinated by these differences and similarities. Traveling in Japan, I could only admire the beauty of how we represent the world through our language. I feel that in a world that is becoming increasingly depersonalized and where artificial intelligence and algorithms seem to creep into every corner of our lives, maintaining human, imperfect and warm contacts is a form of resistance. In that sense, both in my project with sacred languages such as philosophy and astrology and in language classes, I try to maintain the human dimension and respect the beauty and multidimensionality of communication. Apart from my background in philosophy at university, I am interested in art, politics, culture as an expression of an epoch, psychoanalysis, comparative religions, etc. In this context, with many of my more advanced students we work with texts and films where our interests intersect. For the more beginning classes the emphasis is also on conversation, but with a grammatical framework and progression. That is why I am interested in understanding the students‘ objectives. Whether learning for pleasure or for a trip, to take an international exam or for cultural reasons, I believe that framing the classes in a structure allows the creative to emerge. If you are interested in the approach and are curious, feel free to contact me for a no charge introduction where we can discuss a lesson plan after assessing your level. Thank you for your attention. If you know anyone who might be interested in this approach please share it.
