Thanks to my very simple and effective teaching methodology, the student can form sentences in Wolof very easily from our first lesson. Wolof is the most spoken language in Senegal, Gambia where it has been enriched with contributions from other dialects, Arabic and French, which remains the official language. It is experiencing cultural expansion in the country and is also present in Gambia and Mauritania. So to facilitate your integration into Senegalese society; it is essential to use this language because it is the vernacular language although there are several beautiful local Senegalese languages but Wolof remains the most used language. Trusted teacher: From my childhood I have been studying music and art: sang in choir and solo, played piano, painted, studied music history and literature, solfeggio. Later in college I have also learned choir conducting, had ensemble and choir singing lessons, cultural studies. During last year in university I had pedagogy practice at university and at private art school (where I worked as a music tutor before the war - piano, voice). I truly enjoyed working with students. They all were different age (8 - 40+ years old) and level. But all were very interesting and work was pleasant. My education was very various: my core subjects were conducting, choir, voice, piano. So it allowed me to work with children, teens and adults with quite wide range of interests and needs: some students needed/wanted to learn particular composition(s), sometimes pop songs arrangements, some were interested in “introduction” to the music, some wanted to renew skills they gained in their childhood and continue their journey to the music world. In addition I prepared presentations (which contained information about cultural and historical background and musical and character/art analysis). So after graduation from choir conducting faculty (which allowed me to deepen my knowledge in many important compatible branches) I concentrated on studying classical singing and piano, expanded my cultural studies and analysis knowledge, practiced solfeggio and harmony.

Very clear as to what his teaching methods and goals are, how he'll help you get there - then jumps right in and gets you started with no fuss. I found myself speaking sentences in Wolof by the end of the lesson, and really appreciate the additional written material he supplied as well. As someone who has taught and learned various other languages I can tell that Dembane has a really sound methodology. I'll add to this review in a few months time, but so far I am impressed. Also glad that he is pointing out regional differences between Senegal and Gambia usage to me, as it's relevant to my learning needs. He does personalise the content for the individual student, which is good to see.

She is very friendly and passionate teacher. She gave her lesson for my 10 yrs old daughter and she is shy and can't speak English at all. However, after taking her 1st class, she said she enjoyed her lesson very much and she thinks she can continue her studying. I believe that is amazing that Oumaima made 10yrs old kids think studying is interesting.

There was good communication with Armend and he arrived promptly for the first lesson. He had planned an activity which was appropriate for our boys German level. He was patient and explained aspects of the lesson clearly. The boys were comfortable and were pleased with the lesson. We were all impressed with this first lesson. We recommend him.
