Trusted teacher: My main teaching philosophy is to teach students to play the music they enjoy. It sounds like a no-brainer but I have had teachers in the past who only showed me songs that they enjoyed or used method books that teach you "Mary Had A Little Lamb" or "Hot Crossed Buns" (and if you like those songs then we can learn those). All that to say, whatever the student's goal on the instrument, I will take them step by step until they reach it. For a beginning musician, the fundamentals of the instrument are given the highest priority: how to tune your instrument, names of all the notes, essential chords, basic strumming, playing in time, and understanding basic rhythm. For someone who already plays but needs a little help getting out of the rut, we'll spend time fixing bad technical habits, hammering home the fundamentals, expanding their repertoire, and slowly moving outside of the comfort zone to new horizons. With advanced players, listening (ear training), transcribing, song analysis, exploring advanced theory concepts, and focusing on composition and improvisation are most important. With all levels of students, I make playlists that I update after each lesson so they can hear real examples of what we are covering, as well as provide detailed written notes in TAB and standard notation so they can refer to everything we covered and know what to practice. Also, it's fun!

I teach all skill levels and ambitions, whether you want to play bass a hobby, set up a band with friends or want to prepare for a conservatory audition, I can help you. In my teaching I try to give you the best foundational skills to achieve your musical goals. This means a high level of customization is possible if you have an idea of what direction you want to head down, but I will of course guide you on the way as well. As a bassist my strong suits are Rock, Pop, RnB and Neo Soul but through the years I have recorded and played live shows in a host of different genres (Jazz, Fusion, Reggae, Ska, Hard rock etc) so my teaching is by all means not contained to a few genres, I believe having a good overview over different kinds of music is very important. I am originally from Rotterdam, the Netherlands and have been playing bass since I was 13 years old. I graduated in 2023 with a degree in Electric Bass from BIMM Berlin and have studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston (Summer 2018( and Holland College in Canada (2019-2020). As a session bassist in Berlin I have recorded in many great studios with Grammy award winning and nominated producers and engineers. Apart from this I play for multiple artists and have played shows in venues such as Festsaal Kreuzberg, Columbiatheater, Lido, Badehaus, Maschinenhaus, Kantine Am Berghain, Privatclub and many more. Next to this I teach students both in person and online and occasionally work at a music venue, basically I do anything to always be in a musical environment! I Love my chinese sessions with Lexie, she is very chill and relaxed. She has a lot of interesting things to add about the culture and origin and composition of the Chinese character. I am not in Berlin, but she makes use of easy andaccesible tools to be able to work through the sessions remotely.
