Trusted teacher: Do you wish to learn writing music from scratch or improve your composition skills without a necessity of music theory knowledge? Do you want to produce your own music but struggle with the technical aspects? I'm a multi-instrumentalist singer, songwriter and performer and I offer applied classes on writing/arranging/producing pieces of music using various instruments of your choice, including your computer. I use a 'learning by creating' method, where we focus and go deeper on certain aspects depending on your needs on your music creation process. I like to use personalised methods that matches your desires, rather than following a certain curriculum. The goal is to help you gain or improve awareness on how a piece of music is written and learn various ways to begin and finalise a writing process. During our practices, I will naturally be transferring my knowledge on certain aspects such as: - Rhythm - Form - Dynamics - Texture - Melody making - Singing - Guitar playing - Placing words into music/making music around words - Improvisation as a compositional tool - Integration of Ableton Live into creative process - Recording - Mixing During the sessions, we'll either write together from scratch or work on your own material and tackle the issues of constructing a piece of music. Trusted teacher: (German version further down/Deutsche Version weiter unten) I enjoy teaching because it requires a deeper knowledge of the material than if one is only performing music. I am continuously learning too. I do not think that it is important how old you are or in what environment you grew up. To engage with music as a result of learning an instrument can bring your brain in a healthy state of ongoing change. People that are "without any talent" for music do not exist. Everyone can engage with music and enjoy it. I can teach Piano: - involving sheet music or not, depending on what you prefer. - or/and Music theory lessons - or/and Improvisation - or/and Jazz - or/and Ear Training - or/and Composition. The lessons can be held in English or German or a mixture of both. I teach close to Friedrichstraße in Berlin. The lessons can be done via Skype too. You can read about me as a performing musician here: Julius (*1995) is a German pianist and composer, graduated from the University of Arts Berne in Switzerland in 2017 with honors. In July 2019 he finished his Masters in the European Jazz Masters Programme through the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen with exchange semesters in Berlin and Amsterdam. Throughout his studies, he was lucky enough to receive artistic guidance by Colin Vallon, Django Bates, Harmen Fraanje, Simon Toldam, Peter Bruun, Greg Cohen, and Michael Moore. Julius was granted a scholarship by Lyra Stiftung Zürich in 2015 and 2016. Tours with his own bands have been supported by different fundings from Switzerland and Germany. He performed all across Europe during the past years. German/Deutsch: Beim Unterrichten ist es notwendig alles tiefer zu beherrschen als wenn man „nur“ Musik macht. Ich lerne stets auch als Lehrer dazu. Es ist irrelevant wie alt Sie sind oder in welcher musikarmen oder musikreichen Umgebung Sie aufwuchsen. Sich mit Musik zu beschäftigen kann unser Gehirn in einen gesunden Zustand von andauernder Veränderung und Wachstum bringen. Menschen die „talentfrei“ im Bezug auf Musik sind, gibt es nicht. Jeder kann sich mit Musik und sich daran erfreuen. Ich gebe Unterricht mit oder ohne Noten, abhängig davon was Sie bevorzugen. Bei Interesse unterrichte auch Musiktheorie, Improvisation, Jazz, Gehörbildung und Komposition. Der Unterricht findet auf deutsch oder englisch oder einer Mischung aus beidem statt. Ich unterrichte in der Nähe der Friedrichstraße in Berlin. Der Unterricht kann auch über Skype stattfinden. Er schloss 2017 seinen Bachelor an der Hochschule der Künste Bern mit dem Prädikat sehr gut ab. Im Juli 2019 schloss er den European Jazz Masters am Rytmisk Musikkonservatorium in Kopenhagen, mit Austauschsemestern am Jazz Institut Berlin und dem Conservatorium van Amsterdam, ab. In 2015 und ’16 war er Stipendiat der Lyra Stiftung Zürich. Touren seiner Bands wurden in den letzten Jahren regelmäßig von deutschen und schweizerischen Stiftungen unterstützt. Julius spielte in den letzten Jahren Konzerte in ganz Europa.
